How many times did Ings touch the ball in that first half?  3? 4?  Not saying it's necessarily his fault, but something isn't working there.

Because we are belting it long into the channels rather than into him to hold up and play off.

I think Watkins needs to really worry about coutinho coming in

I'd have Ramsey off for Sanson and El Ghazi on for Ings. Targett needs replacing, but someone just going to have to babysit him.

From putting them to the sword with sublime intricate exchanges to a passage of play in which we couldn't control the football.  How does that happen so often?

Decent performance but poor defending for their goal. Need to calm it down a bit in their final third and have a bit more belief

Replace both of our fullbacks and get a decent DM and we’ve got the makings of a great side.
You just know we could be out there till tomorrow and not score. Hate playing this lot

I'd like to see Chuk on for Ings , push Watkins down the middle and play Buendia and Chuck narrow behind.

McGinn and Ramsay need a "dig in the ribs" at half time.

Ings looks and plays like a 40 year old.

Ings to be subbed again. His build up play is non existant.

I agree - think he could provide something going forward.

For all the mistakes fro others, it’s Ings who needs to be replaced at halftime - he just doesn’t work in this system. Get Watkins through the middles, Sanson to offer a bit more protection in the middle and push Ramsey wider.

Agreed.

Until we sign a player that can play the holding role like Nakamba, we need stronger arrive Luiz

Unless we get that DCM to start dominating, Coutinho may not make a massive amount of difference, particularly in this formation. Quality player, but we have to get him the ball and I can't see that with this current midfield.

You say that when Buendia has been on the ball many times and chances have happened as a result.

Coutinho is simply better if match fit so I'm hopeful they'll be goals and assists very soon with the same space.

I’m looking forward to seeing Coutinho and Bunedia together.

Yes could work as the two narrow 10s for sure in some games.

Fair comments but with this midfield, we will continue to ship goals.  I am looking forward to the added quality of both of them, together, hopefully but we need the beef behind them to allow them the space and time just off Watkins.  I think Coutinho might bring the best out of Watkins too.

I think every villa fan and their dog knows we need a DM. The various threads had this all last summer.

played really well in patches
But sloppy distribution, defence caught out on both wings a couple of times , gone off the boil last 10 mins.
What was Ramsey booked for ?
