Likeable chap, played well for us and leaving at the right time. Cheers Lucas.

It’s between him and Stan for the best left back I’ve seen at Villa. Sad to see him go but it’s probably best for all parties.

A very nice chap by all accounts too, will get a great reception if he ever comes back to Villa Park.

Going to miss that cushioned control of a cross-field ball onto his left peg. A thing of great beauty.

One of those players who always put a shift in, got us as a club, and came across as fully likeable. Taking a pay cut to help us out isn't to be sniffed at either in this day and age. Can't begrudge him semi-retirement in his native language playing left back in a farmer's league.

Always be welcome back. Probably won't play in Salzburg for them, but should get a great reception if he is there.

For all their other changing and fiddling with the rules and protocols surrounding the tournament, I am surprised that FIFA allow transfer negotiations and actual transfers involving participating players during the World Cup.

Apart from anything else, better for him to leave now than us realise a month into next season that his legs have gone.

I was beginning to think that in the second half of the season anyway, though he finished strong.

Agree
Always a reliable option, but need younger legs
Bon Chance, except when you play us

I thought his days were numbered two years ago, he came back stronger, same again last around early January and again this season he’s better again. Thank you Digne, you’ve been amazing and a brilliant signing. I could only wish this fella all the very best for his next chapter.

Good luck Lucas.

Thought a month into last season that was the case! He did finish the season very strongly but I think there was obvious signs he was on the slide before then. Timing is good on this decision, whether Maatsen is up to taking over is another debate.

Been a really good player for us. Lovely move for him to close out his career, and good fee combined with big wages released. He’s played a really important role and will be tough to replace, but Maatsen has worked with him so hopefully he’ll be ready to step up. Best of luck Lucas.

We're pretty confident that Tielemans and Digne are going to be fooked in the next few months. What about Meatball, Mings and the rest of our Dad's Army?!

I’m not, I’m surprised they don’t demand a cut.

Mings is a reserve now, McGinn will play until he's at least forty.

We'd move Mings on if a suitable offer came in. SJM is different as i've said before that he'll be the hardest player to replace as his value to us is so much more than just playing ability.

Charlie Aitken for me.
