Lucas Digne - what a player and what a signing. Came in the same month as Coutinho and who would have thought he would go on to perhaps eclipse Steve Staunton as our greatest left back of the Premier League era.

That goal against Man Ure in Emery's first game was a highlight. He looked finished in 2023 when Moreno came in but eventually saw him off with his class, seemingly getting better and better with age. Played with us in the Champions League and helped end our trophy drought.

Will very much miss him, but at 33, on big wages, getting near on £10M is decent going in reality.

It is sad to see him go but hopefully Maatsen will improve consistency and Estepinian will prove a decent pick up.

Luca will go down as a top signing, always performed well and always loved being at Villa. Will be sorely missed.
