Good luck to him. Apart from next match.

But he’s been fabulous for us. A great servant.

Pervis Estupinan

Ecuadorean international. 56 csps

Turned 28 last January. 5'9" (Digne's 5'10").

Played under Unai at Villareal 50+ games  snd was on the bench when they beat ManU on pens to win the Europa in 2020-21 l.

Prem experience with Brighton.
Valued at €12m on Transfermarkt- not a guarantee of his price (They has Digne at €6m).

Wages at AC Milan are £33kpw, £1.71m pa (Digne was on £135kpw - £7m). So he can have a pay rise and we get a younger cheaper player.

He was here far longer than I anticipated.  Very consistent other than that bizarre moment against Bournemouth for their equalizer .  Still dont know what he was doing ?   But that touch for the Spurzzz goal !! :)

We seem to be losing some of our most reliable players and getting fairly paltry amounts for them.

Not quite sure how we're going to replace them. Olabe had better have some amazing bargains lined up.

We're getting a lot more than if we wait another 12 months - we're getting the thick end of £50 million for 2 players with a combined age of 61, a combined wage that is probably approaching £15 million a year and whose effective sell-on value would be nothing at the end of this season.  Reality is both Digne and Tielemans will need replacing sooner rather than later, at least this way we have got some funds to do it and if it means we keep hold of Rogers and Martinez as well then it's the right way to go unfortunately.

We swapped him for £10m & Matt Targett. Four good seasons later and we’re getting some money back. Good stuff.

The problem is that we do not just need to replace a solid, possibly World Cup winning, defender. We also need to replace 1 of the better crossers of the ball we have.

I do honestly think Matt Targett doesn't exist when he's not being mentioned by Villa fans.

Indeed, something had to give and better it’s these two.  We all knew that the side was ageing and EL win was potentially their last hurrah, but it feels difficult at the moment because we have to clear the decks before re-stocking them. In Unai we trust….

No one is irreplaceable. Some players had to leave. I’ll be gutted if either Rogers or Watkins follow them. This feels ok.

He was 'ok' at first but he improved massively under Emery. He'll be missed but it makes sense.

If Digne goes on to win the WC with France and CL for PSG it'll be the best-planned life and career since we lost our beloved Bowie.

Lucas Digne - the word stalwart springs to mind, but that does not convey how much of a top, top pro he's been in his time with us. Less fashionable than other players, less quick, less flashy. But always engaged, incredibly consistent and a left peg to die for. I will be cheering him on wherever he goes.

Right time to move him on. We get a fee, bag £6m profit, keep £5m and hopefully repalce him with somebody that is absolutely rapid.
