Is this another Monchi masterpiece of a deal?

Actually I Didn’t realise he’s 33, so not bad I guess.

Mad that Monchi still has a hand in it even after he has left.

Not really he negotiated the contracts and clauses.

And Juve won't pay us the same amount, £10m for a player the same age with likely more longevity, given he's a goalkeeper...

Fair point. He did get him to reduce his wage mind.

He’s been superb for us but he’s also 33 and on big money. For us to keep Rogers and sign Manzambi clearly losing players had to play a part. Thats why it’s fucking shit as much as anything. But given his age I’d sooner keep our top younger talent and move older expensive wage ones.

Yes, an opportunity to pick up any money for a 33 year old outfield player, in our financially hamstrung position, has got to be taken.

His career will last longer there, as Ligue 1 isn't anywhere near as taxing. He's older and there were signs towards the end of the season that Maatsen was taking over as first choice.

We all know we need turnover and age reduction, this is a good deal for all concerned.

What a comeback though for Digne. Talk at one point was he was off on a free to a club in France a couple of years ago as we looked to clear wages. But his stellar form for club and country, and the fact that he was a top, top pro, a brilliant footballer and player around the club gave us some extra years of his ability and he’s got a move to PSG to end his career.

If he goes who will be the back up to Maatsen?

He won’t be first choice or play in many of the big games as they have Nuno Mendes who’s probably the best left back in Europe. However I’m sure he’ll get a nice pay rise and work his way through to retirement. Good luck Lucas.

I don’t think Maatsen is guaranteed to be the starting option.

I'd take Estupinan as is being rumoured, always rated him a Brighton, and played under Unai at Villareal

They rest a lot of their players in the league for full games. Really push it, mainly because they're a petroclub playing in a farmer's league. He'll play a lot domestically.

I'll miss him. He's in the top three for me with Staunton and Freddie B.
