I'm sure he used to bang in three or four free kicks a season for Everton. I suppose the version we've got is still better though, even without that extra string to his bow.
Digne has been sensational for a good while now.
In January 2022, Digne told Everton manager Rafael Benítez that he no longer wanted to play for the club and wished to leave. He had argued with the manager over tactics.[39]On 13 January 2022, Aston Villa announced the signing of Digne from Everton for a fee of £25 million, with a contract until 2026.[40][41]
After a 2–1 defeat to bottom-placed Norwich City at Carrow Road, Benitez was relieved of his duties on 16 January 2022, after six-and-a-half months in charge, with Everton in 15th place, six points above the relegation zone, having lost nine of their previous thirteen games.[130] With his sacking, Benitez became the fifth Everton manager to lose his job in the previous six years.[131]
Was it Lampard who replaced Benitez? I wonder if Digne had hung on for a week at Goodison would he have rejected "Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa" for "Frank Lampard's Everton"? England never figured how how to play both. Now Lucas would have to work-out how to play for one or the other. Thankfully, this never came to pass. Almost 3 years on, Lucas and Villa are very happy together and are now expecting their second child.
He is up there for early contenders for player of season so far
