I like him and he clearly gives a shit, so I don’t see any reason to get rid or why he’d want to leave with a potential CL season on the horizon. What’s his contract situation at the moment?

I don't think the club considered letting him go for football reasons, but rather because he's on quite big wages, and they think they can do more with that money.  Gerrard et al made a very big deal of the fact they got him "so cheaply" (still £25m), and at 28 it was his last big pay day, so I'm sure his contract is very healthy indeed.

I would imagine the only people ahead of him on weekly wages would be our two Bosmans (Kamara and Tielemens), and possibly Ollie after his new contract and Diaby our record signing?

If FFP were not a concern, I doubt we'd be looking to move him on at all. He's been pretty good this season, and I think the fact he's so good technically really helps with the way we play it out from the back.

That said, anything above about £10m would be FFP profit, and his wages could go elsewhere (his contract runs to 2026, 4.5 years from when he signed in Jan 2022).  If the club thinks they can sell him and get better a player(s) into the squad, then great, but I wouldn't be the least bit disappointed if he starts the season with us, given his performances this season.

It was a total mismatch against Quansah for that goal to be fair…he’d need to be at least 6 inches taller to have had any chance of winning that header.

It's always going to be difficult when you switch off and let the attacking player get 6 feet in front of you though.

He annoyed me the most in that first half, that attempt to stop Salah shooting looked really half arsed but like everyone I'm assuming he's just shot. On the whole it would be really good to keep him as he's been our best LB but I think we're in for some more astute accounting.

He did get caught ball watching with Quansah's slightly deeper run, but in his defense I think he then followed the flight to where he thought HE could challenge for it.  If he'd jumped with Quansah he'd have been about foot below the ball - but he should have made it harder for him, definitely.

It was a very good header, but for all the 'love in' Quansah was getting for his performance last night, people seem to forget Ollie ran round him like he wasn't there for our first equaliser.  If Salah had done that to either Digne or Konsa we'd have been rightly furious!

We don’t know the FFP situation at the club, so my concern with talk about moving on players like Digne would be one of false economy. Obviously the club will be all over the FFP but we also need to strengthen the squad if we do reach CL…but if we’re saying selling a player for FFP profit to be replaced with similar quality but payments spread over x-amount of years helps even more so then I can see that argument.

Although much as I like him, he was a bit rubbish last night. Their 3rd goal he lost Quansah completely.

He did but Owen/Sherwood suggested Torres had to take some of the blame there for undoing our line. I think they were right.

I think on top of that is him apparently wanting to go back home. I actually don't know if there is any truth in that but it was definitely referenced in the summer.

Apparently off to Galatasaray on a 12 month loan.
No loan fee, but they're covering all of his wages (£120k per week).

We'll still take a £5.5m hit on the balance sheet for PRS/amortisation.

Lots of stuff on X from Galatasaray fans which appear to confirm the deal, although some say that they've reached an agreement with Digne and are now negotiating with Monchi.

Nothing on prAVda yet.

Looks like Maatsen’s got the left back shirt. Wonder if that puts Moreno as back up, or will we let him go and keep KKH as cover?

12months ago we all thought the opposite. Maybe after a pre-season Moreno will be more like the player we had for his first 3-4months with us.

I don't think there's much between them really, but there's only really room for 1 to stay so whoever we can get a good deal for can go for me.

Although some Turkish bloke has responded to him saying “actually it’s true, you should do some research”. So who knows what to think?
