Villa told the Prem of the new positives this morning. The Prem League Board are the ones who've been pissing about.

A Premier League statement said: "After reviewing all the new information provided by Aston Villa this morning and receiving separate medical advice, the [Premier League] Board approved the request as a result of the club not having enough players to field a team. This decision was based on the number of Covid-19 cases, injuries and illness."
Club's fault for not issuing a statement at the time that they submitted a request for postponement. That would given Burnley and our far away supporters time to make a decision about travelling.

And if the Premier League rejected our appeal?

Yes, that might have helped but if the league had said no then people would be doubly pissed off if they’d cancelled travel arrangements only for the game to go ahead.

Clubs should not have been put in this position in the first place.

Is the correct answer, should have been postponed in the week.

I have called the switchboard at Villa Park in order to 'vent'. Unfortunately Christian Purslow was not available.

It's not an appeal it's a request based on good authoritative  data and responsibly stating that the Villa do not have enough players to field a team. No request made by clubs on actual match days have been rejected so far.

Can see people not bothering for a while whilst this shit is going on.
I didn't travel down this morning because I didn't want to risk having to isolate over the family Christmas. Had I done so, I'd have been there before the official announcement (260 miles round trip).

Likewise for the reasoning… No way was I risking not enjoying Xmas with the family (more so considering restrictions last Xmas, where we didn’t get to see most of family) for the sake of ‘Dyche-ball’ 😴

Apparently it's 4 more Villa players ?
they should have been more careful to be honest.

Surely we should be staying in a hotel night before game with players in separate rooms?

Would be disappointing if players were with families overnight, caught the virus from family and tested positive this morning I presume getting to Bodymoor around 9am.

In terms of "hardship" it's not too much to ask given we always spend away matches at hotels and didn't have any additional cases before Norwich game.

Only travelling in from Sutton so feel for those who were coming in from various parts of u.k to watch today, said a few days they really should've called this off Friday evening or Saturday morning at latest, 12.45pm really isn't good enough when people are starting to set off so need to improve testing procedure for sure if it can't be done quicker.

I'd be surprised if we played again this year tbh. Think next time we'll play is the Monday night in the FA cup unless premier league put a new midweek round for Jan 5th if plenty of xmas games get wiped out as looks pretty certain currently.

Blaming the Villa for what they could or couldn't have done, even if they were allowed to do it, distracts from the real culprits. The Premier League should have scrapped this week's fixtures.

Premier League informed of #AVFC new positive cases 10am; then follows verification of total player availability - including Covid, injury, illness - between club & PL medical depts. PL board convened 12pm; decision 40 mins later. Not ideal for fans but that is the agreed process (Sam Wallace)

Yep, they should have. What annoys me most is all the talk is of players coming down with the virus, but not a mention of fan safety 🤯
That supposed meeting happening this coming Monday should have happened this week, as soon clubs started dropping like flies.
Utter negligence… all about the money.
