Ridiculous. Got the news as we got to the A38 roundabout. Mate from Burnley with us for it as well. Bang out of order.

Villa told the Prem of the new positives this morning. The Prem League Board are the ones who've been pissing about.

A Premier League statement said: "After reviewing all the new information provided by Aston Villa this morning and receiving separate medical advice, the [Premier League] Board approved the request as a result of the club not having enough players to field a team. This decision was based on the number of Covid-19 cases, injuries and illness."

I sold my tickets yesterday and got a partial refund on my train tickets. Unlike others I know who’s train pulled into New Street from London just as Villa announced the postponement. Stupid of the club not to call it off in the week

What are they saying on the Burnley forums? Giving the Villa a roundful of fcuks presumably and rightly so. Shambles.

I only live 10 mins away and I’m pissed off at the late notice. Sensible solution was to postpone yesterday

Me too, so not much disruption for me, but genuinely feel for our fans and those from Burnley who have wasted time and money today.

Multiple players/staff managing to catch it in a group of 20-30 max, with regular testing/protocols in place.

Imagine the uptake in contractions after 42k fans mingling at Villa Park for 2-3 hrs, rubbing shoulder to shoulder. It was negligence of the highest order not to foresee this and call the game off during  midweek. There’s a lot of ill feeling towards the club/league and wasted time/expense on the part of fans as a result.

The UK saw a rapidly climbing 93,000 confirmed cases yesterday (*almost certainly a tonne more than this in reality). Once again, the Premier League putting money before the fans.

Gutted for the fans who have been put out by this, but a bit of common sense by Villa and the Premier League and it could have all been avoided. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sorry for all those that have traveled, regardless of which team they support.

Instead of trying to appease broadcasters all the time, the PL should have just shut all games down this week through until Boxing Day and there might have been a chance of a reset.

I was outside Villa Park just about to go into the Holte Suite when I got a call to tell me. Had one pint and came home, the league should have just made a blanket decision to call off all games until the New Year instead of pissing people about like this.

I would like to know how many of them are actually ill rather than just failing a poxy test.

What difference would that make? If they’ve got the virus then they are contagious and can spread it to other people who might become ill.
