Just arrived in Aston. 3.5 Hours to see game off. FFS
Fell so sorry for you Richard, I was over halfway here when I found out and I live much closer than you. Safe journey back.Abdolute shit show from our so-called 'well run' club. They send out countless communications about illegal domestic Covid passports, yet not one single email or text notifying of the postponement.

Anyone up for a class action to claim compensation on travelling expenses?

1322 email, yet I reckon 1247 alert to phone from Villa app, no text yet, apart from the 10.01 don’t travel if symptoms…

FFS make it mandatory for players to get vaccinated and then play the game regardless of positive tests. Premier League need to sort this out.

100% this. I heard yesterday that 25% of premier league players haven't been vaccinated. I know some players are a bit thick but that's ridiculous.
100% vaccination wouldn't prevent this. Vaccination doesn't stop positive tests. Now most people have been vaccinated so have at least some protection so aren't badly affected. No reason to cancel the football.

Club email says

“ The results of PCR tests, which were taken yesterday prior to training as well as Lateral Flow Tests, were received this morning and confirmed further depletion of our playing squad which was already impacted upon for our trip to Norwich in midweek.”

If they did tests yesterday am they could have had results last night easy. Bonkers. Unless it’s lateral flows this morning, which would be wise, but doesn’t read that way.

This is a farce. Premier League should have knocked all games on the head on Thursday.

Caught a train up to Brum from Llanelli at 7.20 this morning for the game.

Now heading back.
Feel for you. Luckily I don't have to leave home till an hour before the game. It is not fair to fans like yourself and Burnley fans. The least that PL and Villa could do is provide more information like what time did they have the results, how many players and names of those players out of respect to fans. Remember the game is about fans as they always say.

Does that mean that Chelsea will be off because our players will be isolating?

When I joined a vaccine study trial at a Wellcome Trust Clinic  I had to go in every two weeks to provide blood samples. They always did a PCR test on arrival and made me wait 15 mins fo the result.

I’d be amazed if the Chelsea game is on.

Cheers mate, yes I've now had the 13.22hrs email, and I did have the pointless text at 10.02 hours. Heads need to roll over this shambles. I imagine alot of fans from both teams will be in the vicinity of Villa Park before they find out.

Vaccination greatly reduces the chances of catching it therefore makes complete sense to me. Not being vaccinated is certainly not going to help with stopping the spread of the virus.

So they have confirmed the test were taken yesterday but only got the results back this morning,

Be interested to know WHEN we got the test results. Did it take 4 hours for the Premier League to approve a requested postponement? Or am I giving the club too much credit and they didn’t get the results back until just before the postponement? The details matter, as this has cost fans a lot of time and money.
