OK, so I’ve been watching Villa since the late 80s, and I’ll go out on a limb and say that Cash is probably the best RB we’ve had in that time. I liked Luke Young, Mark Delaney, Gary Charles and Earl Barrett, but Cash will soon have played more games for us than any of them, and will have been a reliable part of a team that was at least as consistently successful as any that they were part of. Yes, I’d like a better RB, but I’d like a better everything.

Fernando Nelson or Carlos Cuellar for me. No, Delaney was probably the best that I can remember, until that fool Bocanegra injured him. (and they say Spurs hold a grudge lol)

I like Cashu, I do wish he'd cross it more often than cutting back, but that's tactical from the boss, I believe. We'd rather keep possession than chance it, unless it seems definitely on. But otherwise, character is as important as ability for me, and for that, I really like him.

At their very best I'd have Charles ahead of him and Delaney about equal.

A bit early Fat Sam.
I know it’s a low bar with some of the Right Backs we have put out but crikey.

Cash's crossing with his stronger right foot is one of the weakest parts of his game. That's always a frustration as he can get into great positions. Lately it seems to be a tactic to play for a corner in those positions. Whacking it straight off the first defender. Charles at his best put in some great deliveries for the likes of Yorke.

Cash has floated some nice ones into the box when he checks back in on his left.

We've had a fair few right backs who were better centre halves - Cuellar, Konsa, Mellberg, Barrett for example.

However from the pure ones I've been privileged to watch the best 5 were/are:

Swain
Gidman
Delaney
Cash
Charles

Honorable shout outs to Cafu and Elmo when we were a little bit rubbish.

Chrissy Price deserves an honourable mention if only for that goal at Highbury, but he did play consistently in a team that nearly won the league.

When I try and think of the best ever Villa team of players I’ve seen, right back is the one position I struggle with.

I’d probably go with Mellberg just to get him in the 11 (God and Laursen as centre backs).

For the best all-round right-back, it's Kenny Swain for those three years.

I was worried early on as Savinho was getting the better of him but another good game.

Lovely strike and full of running.  Keep it up.  I guess Money Talks!
