Ned, Garcia, Konsa, Disasi - all given chances at RB to replace him ...
Not sure either Ned or Garcia have been give the chance to shine, but I take your point.

In Emery's mind anyway. Not sure exactly where or what Garcia's status is currently - injured or just out of favour? Having to put a Lindelof or Konsa at RB for anything but a rearguard action away to Man City or something would worry me.

Konsa at Right Back? seems ok to me. I wonder if we have any stats to back that up?

No those metrics have been deleted. We have to just rely on Emery's judgement on it now and the old school eye test 😀

The pass from Cash for the second goal the other day was obviously sublime.  The other side of his game was also on show when he over hit a 5 yard pass to Guessand to fudge up an earlier promising attack.   Overall, I like him enough to be happy he's in the team.  He's committed, quick, and tidy on the ball (he could shoot less!).  If he played in a team that wasn't set up so narrow I think he'd look even better defensively too.  It's probably quite difficult to play full back for Villa due to our tactics and formation.

I think he doesn't shoot enough.

More spurs away and less united away and he'll start to get me more onside. He has been good for the most part this season to be fair, so willing to be convinced.

I agree with almost all of this.

I've always liked him, despite his very obvious limitations.

The Summer/Autumn we signed Martinez, Watkins and Cash was transformative in both how we play and establishing us a top flight force again.

That said, five years on, I would've hoped for better in his position.

That's not a slight on him, I just don't think he's made himself undroppable to the same extent McGinn or Watkins have, for example. They've raised their game as we've gone up a notch or three quality-wise in that time frame. Whereas he's roughly where he was before - minus the attacking runs forward that were a feature of his first 12-18 months with us.
