We all know you'll berate him the first time he checks back in the next match.

He's better when he has someone prepared to work hard in front of him. And now he appears to have it.

New: #AVFC reach an agreement in principle with Matty Cash over a new contract until 2029+option of a further year. Announcement aims to be this week once paperwork is finalised. John McGinn also close to joining 28yo in signing a new deal.

Good for Matty. He's been a solid servant at the club. He might not be the best RB we have ever had and still has things to work on. But he's as loyal as they come, loves playing for us and gives his all. He'll become a back up by the end of this deal just as Lucas will by the end of his new one. But he's deserved the opportunity to essentially see out the best years of his career with us.

He deserves it, good lad.

At some point in the future when we've got Aly Cissokho's son tripping over himself at full back whilst we lose at home to Forest Green in the League Cup we'll think fondly back to the days when we had great full backs like Matty Cash.

The ol' suddenly play well, get a new contract, revert to average trick. Hey, some say it worked for lil'Lee (I wouldn't).

Nah, he's a good lad, Matthew. Just wish he had proper competition.

Been really good for 12 months. Well deserved.

It’s great that in our financial position we’re no longer in urgent need of an upgrade on him.

I’m so optimistic about the talent in our squad at the moment.

Happy with this, I really like the look of Rowe so keeping Cash around whilst we see how things go seems like a good call to me. Garcia as a option to compete with them both is a nice cheap alternative as well.

To get a definite upgrade I reckon we'd be looking at £40m+ in the current market and I just don't see the point in that sort of spending in that position right now.
