He has been not good enough for ages now, but we seem to spend all our 'full back attention' on left backs, whilst it's this waste of space or an out of position centre half.

Eh...he was played out of position tonight. It worked at Leipzig against one of the most tactically inept sides I've ever seen. It was never going to work tonight against Forest who were very organised. That's on Emery not Cash. McGinn could have played on right, Cash RB and we could have avoided yet another Konsa/Carlos disasterclass.

The disaster classes that occur less frequently than the Konsa/Cash disaster classes?

Cash  lost possession 14 times in the game, did not complete a successful cross despite finding himself in some good wide areas to deliver, completed just one of his three dribble attempts and had a 70% pass completion.

Needs upgrading.

Or needs to be played in the correct position, he's a decent enough right-back for our team.

But he's not a winger, and shouldn't be playing there. He's doing his best for the team but it'd be like playing Konsa in midfield.

or Konsa at RB .      I like him and a great squad player but is final ball needs to improve massively and no way should he be playing where he is agreed ,  but  we need to keep possession at times , like rogers gave the ball away 16 times , its too much.     He is also a little injury prone so we do need another one coming in.

So that is 32 times between 2 players, that is ridiculous and why we keep losing games.

I'm surprised Unai with his total obsession with football never knew the season before we bought Forest's gifted right back Cash was a shit winger.

He signed a new contract in April 2022. At the time that met with positive responses from everyone and we wanted to knock back a rumoured £40m move to Atletico Madrid. Discussion was around him being an attacking full back, whose touch weas improving.

Has he got worse? Were standards lower? Or have we improved everywhere else and he now doesn't look as good? Or, is it something else?

When McGinn played wide right, he covered Cash and we were stronger, since then, we've had Bailey instead, or Philogene and this season neither have particularly shone. I wonder whether the problem isn't Cash exactly, but the cover our Right Back gets from the player in front. Konsa is stronger defensively, but offers not a lot going forward, I think that's part of the conundrum.

Kamara eas dropping in to the Right Back position too when Cash pushed forward, he's not doing that as much because Konsa isn't pushing forward.

Perhaps we should revert to Cash and McGinn on the right for a bit.

He is more than an adequate 2nd choice right-back. And one thing you can't fault is his effort. Not being good enough is the club's problem, not the player.

Yep.  He is a decent back up, or a first-teamer in a lower mid table side.

Yep. He has the occasional good game but overall his performances indicate he is not good enough at this level.

Just because he's the only one who can play there, it doesnt make him good enough

We finished fourth last season with Cash and Konsa alternating at right back. The main problem is further forward. If you invite pressure as much as we did in that second half, you'll concede goals if the entire defence is made up of peak Beckenbauers.
