Curious to see who of the walking wounded, internationals etc actually are available to play for us. Because I have no clue at all anymore who is fit, who isn't, who is banned, who is exiled, who is trapped in Croatia, on some sort of Covid lock down. We need to bounce back with a win is pretty much all I know. I hope we are more adventurous than 3 CB's again, but I doubt it. I want to see Buendi, Bailey, Traore etc all running at the opponents but that won't happen either. Is Martinez available or not? Or Doug?

Anyway, optimistically we find a way to win 1-0. Someone in a Villa kit with the winner. Could be a fan

I'd like to think we will win but they are starting to pick up some results. They don't score many but don't concede too many either. I think it will be a draw.

As usual hoping for a win but see this as 1-1 draw - Ings to score

Did not realise until yesterday they are only a point behind us in the league table!

As discussed previously in regards to Stockport City's attendances, one of the joys of football is it's unpredictability. I can see 70's Night winning, us winning and the draw being all perfectly feasible given recent form but in a similar way to the Everton game, a 3pm Home game tips the balance in our direction. But only just.

3-2

I think we will win. Must be the first time we've been favourites in this fixture for a while.

I reckon it'll be the team below:

Steer

Cash
Konsa
Mings
Hause
Targett

J Ramsey
Marvelous
McGinn

Ings
Watkins

Doesn't look massively inspiring, to be honest.

Would much rather ditch the five at the back and bung Buendia in, but can't see it.

Don't expect any of Traore, Bailey or Sanson to make the squad as they're Villa players and therefore made of balsa wood.

According to the BBC site Argentina play tonight? Is that correct? If so, it surely means Martinez is unlikely to play. Very frustrating if so.

If we do play that team (and I’d rather a 433 personally) then it’s more of a 352 than 5 at the back isn’t it?

I fear you’ll be right about the injuries, sadly.

Argentina play tonight/tomorrow morning... half past midnight our time. At least game is in Buenos Aires so getting to an airport shouldn't be too difficult.

My Doghead uncle is coming over from Wales to watch this with me, so I’m really rather hoping for a good performance and victory. Think we might struggle though, team I reckon will be what CD says above.

If it was me I’d go:

Steer
Cash Konsa Mings Targett
McGinn Marvellous Ramsey
Buendia Watkins Philogene-Bidace

Can see this being a tight, disjointed game not helped by the late return of players from international duty.

A frustrating and slightly underwhelming 1-1 draw.

DS has already said that Bailey needs to be “managed” with his injury. Now where have I heard that before? Think I’ll bring my boots just in case we’re struggling to actually put out a team!!

What is Baileys injury and did he have it before we signed him?  Is he playing this weekend?
