Curious to see who of the walking wounded, internationals etc actually are available to play for us. Because I have no clue at all anymore who is fit, who isn't, who is banned, who is exiled, who is trapped in Croatia, on some sort of Covid lock down. We need to bounce back with a win is pretty much all I know. I hope we are more adventurous than 3 CB's again, but I doubt it. I want to see Buendi, Bailey, Traore etc all running at the opponents but that won't happen either. Is Martinez available or not? Or Doug?
Anyway, optimistically we find a way to win 1-0. Someone in a Villa kit with the winner. Could be a fan

I'd like to think we will win but they are starting to pick up some results. They don't score many but don't concede too many either. I think it will be a draw.
-
As usual hoping for a win but see this as 1-1 draw - Ings to score
Did not realise until yesterday they are only a point behind us in the league table!
-
As discussed previously in regards to Stockport City's attendances, one of the joys of football is it's unpredictability. I can see 70's Night winning, us winning and the draw being all perfectly feasible given recent form but in a similar way to the Everton game, a 3pm Home game tips the balance in our direction. But only just.
3-2
-
3-1 to Villa, no problem.
-
I think we will win. Must be the first time we've been favourites in this fixture for a while.
-
I reckon it'll be the team below:
Steer
Cash
Konsa
Mings
Hause
Targett
J Ramsey
Marvelous
McGinn
Ings
Watkins
Doesn't look massively inspiring, to be honest.
Would much rather ditch the five at the back and bung Buendia in, but can't see it.
Don't expect any of Traore, Bailey or Sanson to make the squad as they're Villa players and therefore made of balsa wood.
-
According to the BBC site Argentina play tonight? Is that correct? If so, it surely means Martinez is unlikely to play. Very frustrating if so.

If we do play that team (and I’d rather a 433 personally) then it’s more of a 352 than 5 at the back isn’t it?
I fear you’ll be right about the injuries, sadly.
-
Argentina play tonight/tomorrow morning... half past midnight our time. At least game is in Buenos Aires so getting to an airport shouldn't be too difficult.
-
My Doghead uncle is coming over from Wales to watch this with me, so I’m really rather hoping for a good performance and victory. Think we might struggle though, team I reckon will be what CD says above.
If it was me I’d go:
Steer
Cash Konsa Mings Targett
McGinn Marvellous Ramsey
Buendia Watkins Philogene-Bidace
-
Can see this being a tight, disjointed game not helped by the late return of players from international duty.
A frustrating and slightly underwhelming 1-1 draw.
-
DS has already said that Bailey needs to be “managed” with his injury. Now where have I heard that before? Think I’ll bring my boots just in case we’re struggling to actually put out a team!!
-
I'm going for a 2-1 Villa win.
-
What is Baileys injury and did he have it before we signed him? Is he playing this weekend?
-
Not sure what to expect here. All I would say is that international breaks are as disruptive for all clubs. Hoping for a positive performance
-
Think we'll win this 2-1
-
a clean sheet on Sat please Villa !
UTV
The Doc

My lad's second match, after Brentford I want first choice players available... Oh well.
-
0-2.
-
Doubt he will start Bailey. Hope to see him at some stage during the match but not holding my breath.
-
We should win but this is Villa we are talking about go for a 1-1 draw but will settle for a 1-0 win
-
Villa 1 Tatters Saint Germain 0
-
I played it out on Fifa 22. We take the lead after 70 mins through Traore, they equalise in injury time through Jimenez. Sounds about right.
-
Their front two have hit the ground running in their partnership unlike ours, albeit against weak opposition in Watford and Newcastle.
I really would ditch 352 for this game, i wouldnt necessary drop Ings, but would play 3 attacksrs nonetheless.
I think he’ll play Martinez unless he absolutely cant
Martinez
Cash
Konsa
Mings
Targett
Nakamba
McGinn
Ramsey
Ings
Watkins
Buendia
Bailey to come off the bench, play left wing half back and smash one in the top corner.
A scrappy 2-1 to us
-
Bailey fit?
-
Not sure why but I just have a gut feeling that this has 1-1 written all over it.
-
Don't think Luiz and Martinez will make it back in time, perhaps the bench if they get in on Saturday morning but I wouldn't risk it so will be changes in midfield. Buendia certain to start and probably Nakamba aswell. Axel will likely come in if 5-3-2 is kept aswell.
Is Jimenez playing for Mexico? They have a game early hours tonight so he likely won't feature although the new Korean lad scored some decent goals already.
Think this has the feel of a 1-1 to me. Usually tight games with them and they've actually played well under the new manager compared to last season.
-
It was 3 this morning Mexico played, and Jimenez played the last half hour.
-
Ah right, thought they were playing tonight with all the South American matches.
Guess he'll be o.k to start then.
-
Apparently he has struggled in games in the past when he's been rushed back from playing for his country.
-
1-0 Villa. Given the South American international fixtures fiasco, I struggle to see why this game couldn't be moved to Sunday as its not on live TV?

Agreed - clubs that have players involved with international teams in South America and the Caribbean seem to be unfairly treated especially when their last games are 48 or less before Saturday kick off times. When you factor in potential jet lag on return trips the two week break becomes a nonsense.
-
Martinez and Luiz in the Squad.
Bailey will be back some time in 2022.
-
Urgh Bailey being injured is really frustrating.
-
Bailey will be back some time in 3022.

Dean said:
In terms of our internationals, I expect all of them to be back. We will assess whether they’re going to be available to play or not.
Martinez and Luiz are the latest ones to come back but they’ll be in the squad
-
The usual suspects are all missing the game through injury yet again.
I expect 1 of the 3 will play one more match for us before the end of the season!?
-
Without Leon, I expect a tight game with Villa edging it 1-0.
-
Wolves manager Lange:
We know we’re going to play against a strong opponent, maybe one of the best teams in the league because they’ve invested a lot to try to arrive in a different position. Top players, a top coach, a top club, so they’ll try to do a good season, but we’ll try to do a good game against them.
-
Could really do with a win.
-
I want to see a totally dingles destroying side posted by Dean tomorrow!
I don’t think I’m alone 👍

It's a good point. Wonder if we requested that to premier league but it got turned down. Can remember years back games v Wolves and West Brom always kicking off at 12pm on Sunday (was overeaction to the SHA riots by WMP) but been 3pm Sat for a while.
Moving it back 24 hours would make it a much better quality game anyway given key players are doing 15 hour flights to get back from both sides.
-
I'm glad it's on a Saturday at 3. Makes for a better atmosphere, and it'll be a rolocking good day out to boot.
-
3-1 Villa.

One of the things i loathe about football today is the shit kick-off times and the way we just get shoved all over the place just to accommodate the Sky-supporters.
-
got nil nil all over it.
-
Main threat from Wolves is the partnership forming between Hwang and Jimenez. Would play Buendia today, gonna be close going for a Villa win.
