We've played superbly that half. Absolutely brilliant. Whatever the result at full time today, we're on here....

I'll be amazed if they don't take Saul off, he looks like he's struggling to adapt atm.

Special mention for young Ramsey. He has been excellent.

Brilliant half. Can’t fault them.

Unfortunately for us, Lukaku is quite good ...

Thought we looked really good, unfortunate to be behind really. Formation is allowing us to control the territory, felt like we spent most of the half in the final third, was a bit surprised by the possession stats. Ref has been inconsistent, glad to see Mings and others pointing this out. Ramsey having a very good game, he's a proper player. Keep it up Villa, then punish them with our attacking subs.

I think we should have two match threads. One normal and another for those watching about two minutes behind.

Bailey needs to come on this match it set up for him to shine. Danny Ings has been absolutely terrible

Been the better team and should be winning. Great half but expect Tuchel to make some tweaks at HT. I bet Ings is begging for one of the chances Watkins has had. Really enjoyable watch.

Genuinely the better side, Ramsey making Saul look like a little noob in midfield, Watkins a menace (though Ings is a bit absent), and the system matchup favours us, we're crowding them out in midfield and looking dangerous. Only problem is the fecking score.

This is completely unreasonable, but Alonso’s running style infuriates me.

Have to say that this is the best I’ve seen us play for a long, long time. There’s passion and desire and really unlucky to be a goal down. Keep playing like this in the second half and we could get something out of this match which I didn’t expect. Same performance next week will have Villa Park rocking.

Tuanzebe literally didn’t do a thing right for their goal. Shite.

Very positive first half display even though we are losing
Problem we’ve got now is that too Tuchel is a master tactician And he could make changes to win the game from here

Konsa has questions to answer for that goal.  In no man's land and no drive to recover the position.
