during the warm up I actually thought Grealish had come back and had to double check -  it was Cash has chanelling his inner Jack.

Decent result given the team. Hopefully that should settle some post-ratboy nerves. God bless you Mr B. I hope you manage in the premiership forever.

wet rain - who would of thought it!

It is a new phenomenon which clearly doesn't occur in Newcastle

The biggest plus was Ramsey's performance, his best so far in a Villa shirt, great to hear the Holte End singing his name.

Basically what Dean Smith said . An ok performance with a good result
Goalkeeper poor for the yellow card
Ings brilliant goal
Set piece worked a treat
Mings causing a real threat in opposition box
Young comfortable at left back
AEG for the penalty

Martinez 6.5
Cash 7
Konsa 7
Mings 7.5
Young 7
McGinn 7.5
Luiz 7
AeG 7.5
Buendia 6.5
Ramsey 7
Ings 7.5

Subs. Not graded.

Would have liked to see some of the subs on sooner

Bidace- a short little appearance of mins
Wesley - made some nice flick ons seemed to be winning headers.
Tuanzebe- nice to have him back but little time on

Ref. Coote  Letting far too many fouls go but ultimately became an important player for us second half!

Dean Smith - 7 as we won but he was honest enough in and knows we are better than that.

The giveaway was the bald spot.

Suggest an early grade 2 all over.

Nice to be back at Villa Park
Felt a little anxious heading to the ground with so many people and a couple of Beers settled the nerves a little bit.

Holte End lower was very crowded at Half Time and virtually impossible to get any refreshments,  I think this is down to the Holte Suite being closed for the Vaccinations.

Good win but improvements needed if we want to progress. Buendia seemed really slow , one moment just gave up running and held his arms in the air, very odd.

Superb Goal from Ings and Nice to see something that has obviously been worked on in Training

Terrible choice of colours for the Coaching staff jackets

Danny Ings has had a tough paper round as well. He's 29, but looks at least 39.

Good to be back. Started slowly I thought and in particular Ramsey, but he improved as the game went on and I was very impressed with him.
Cash also impressed me in the second half. Excellent goal by Ings and well taken penalty by AEG.
Newcastle were awful and I really cannot see Bruce being there come the end of the season.
All in all decent enough performance considering we have a number of players to come back in. Looking forward to Brentford now.

Not amazing first half but brilliant finish from Ings. Second half we were well on top. Definite penalty. We were maybe a bit lucky with their non-penalty as I thought they were supposed to let very marginal calls go, now? That said, they should already have been down to ten men by then if the referee had booked their player for the most blatant dive of all time earlier, so I don't think they have much to complain about. Well, other than their team, their manager and their owner.

Thought Cash played well, Buendia looked much better than against Watford but tired. I think he will be brilliant when fully match fit. Ramsey man of the match, IMO.

Just a word about AEG; who else can take penalties? ....
Nobody’s fighting him for it!
Ings took one and scored only last week. His career record is 10 taken,  3 missed. AEG has taken 5 missed 0.

Since we can't wheel on AEG just for pens like they do in American football, I'd rather have a player who contributes more over 90 minutes.
He scores goals from open play.
And pens.
And nobody else does the latter.
Until we have someone else who does that, we keep him.
Are you actually denying that Ings scored a penalty for Aston Villa last week to make AEG sound irreplaceable?

No, just wondering why he’s been marked for moving on when he is a player who knocks em in! Can’t we have more than one?!

OK. No worries. I've marked him for moving on because he is not good enough at this level, in my own mind. Obviously, opinions will differ.

Nah, those days are gone.  Quick trip to the hair transplant clinic during an international break these days.
