Discussing the starting 11 on a football forum. Blasphemy!
To be fair to Chicago he said we shouldn't be discussing the starting x1 and I agree with him. We just have to start with Emi in goals.

Chicago's right.  We shouldn't be arguing about this -

                            Martinez
       Cash     Konsa      Mings      Young

                                 Luiz*

                   McGinn          Buendia

          Bailey             Ings           Watkins

*Until we get a proper DM.
This - whilst it looks pretty close to what I'd expect - depends on Luiz being ready for a full game. He may play Nakamba instead ...

I'd like to think we'll tear them a new one, but it's not going to happen is it?

1-1

We will smash this lot. 3-0 dominating display. Everyone happy. Ings, Ollie and Bailey

I do hope you're right, but I can't see us smashing many teams unless we play with some kind of pre-practiced formation and with some better players than we currently have.

Here's a thought, let's play everybody in their best positions, one defensive midfielder, two box to box midfielders, two wide men to drift in and Ollie to enjoy some great service whilst running his nuts off:

                            Martinez
       Cash     Konsa      Mings      Young

                         Marvelous

              McGinn                Dougie

        Buendia                             Bailey

                           Watkins

I'm assuming Targett is injured; Watkins will want to play centre forward (as he wants to get in the England squad) and left footed Bailey can play comfortably on the left side. Ings can come on to replace hattrick Ollie on 70 minutes.

4-0 Villa (Ollie 3, Ings).

He played like he was, I just assumed he was injured.

He’d been injured and missed preseason, hopefully that’s all it was.

I think we will win and the team owe us a performance after the Watford shit show. In recent times Newcastle have tended to not score many but also not concede too many. They looked more attacking and less defensive in their first game this time out so I think it could be a pretty open game.

I think taking the goalkeeper and defence out of it, the three players that are nailed on to start if fit from the other 6 positions are McGinn, Watkins and Ings. Quite how the formation will shape up to accommodate Ings and Watkins remains to be seen.

Rumours Ollie still out and now so is Bailey
