3.1 - score first. 2 at half time. They get one back on the hour and we make it safe soon after.

                      Martinez

Cash        Konsa        Mings      Young

                      Luiz

Buendia          McGinn           Bailey

                       Ings

                    Watkins

2-0  and more importantly a more than convincing performance

Traore is out isn't he?

Wouldn't mind Guilbert being given a go at RB.

I saw the first half of Newcastle v West Ham. Very open first half, their front three were very dangerous. But the rest of their team are average at best. Any midfield combination of Willock/Hayden/Shelvey we should be dominating.

I have a bad feeling about this one. Football is back at a full excited Villa Park, a new season filled with high expectations, a new future with new signings to look forward to watching…the perfect recipe for disaster. Maxima is going to tear Targett a new arsehole, Wilson will get a few tap ins and we’ll feel stick to our stomach watching fat shirtless Geordies spilling on to the pitch in celebration.

0-2
Yes because after being one of the players of the season last season and knocking on Englands door, Targett after one game this season is now shite. FFS
Please tell me where I said that Targett was shite? Maxima looked right on it against West Ham, and he could give Targett (or any other left back) a torrid time on Saturday.

As an aside, I thought we had agreed that "tearing someone a new arsehole" was homophobic shite?
Sorry I didn’t get the memo, and in no way was my post intended to have any such insinuations.

I didn't get that memo KRS either.

I would be tempted to go 3-4-3 with Young and Cash pushed up a little. Luiz and SJM central, bring Tuanzebe in for his pace into the back 3 and go Bailey, Buendia and Watkins up top.

I've heard Buendia is quite a worker and puts a shift in, does Bailey?
Saint-Maximin could give an ageing Young a run around, but if Taggart is still unfit I guess that's going to be the test for us against these lot. Other than that I like the look of that lineup.

Yep, our midfield got destroyed against Watford, so let's take a player out of it to go two up front.

That midfield had Nakamba, Young and El Ghazi in it though..

That’s pretty much the same lineup I posted (Targett in for Young) if we were to try and squeeze all our best attacking players on the pitch…I like it on paper as it’s very attack minded but could leave us very weak in midfield if Buendia and Bailey don’t track back. I’d rather have another body in midfield and drop one of Watkins/Ings to the bench…if Ollie isn’t fully fit after his knock then I think that will be the case anyway.

We could go with the old school 4-4-2 that MON used in his earlier days with us i suppose but it's most likely outdated and still leaves us piss weak in central midfield, but that's pretty much the same whatever formation with the midfielders we have...

-------------------------------Martinez---------------------------------

Cash---------------Konsa----------------Mings----------------Young

         -------------Nakamba-------------Luiz---------McGinn--------
Bailey-----------

--------------------------Ings--------------Watkins---------------------

Unless one of you is Dean Smith I don’t see the point in arguing about the starting x1
