Washed up and finished.
It’s gone on for too long now.

This isn’t a player out of form. It’s a player who is spent. Done.

Hopefully Malen coming in will give him a kick up the arse.

The reluctance to go past his man when he is one on one with space and to fall to the ground at least once per game with a hurty body indicates a player that is either unmotivated on a phat contract, scared of getting injured again or a complete collapse in confidence.

It's a lot more than taking his man on.  There was a floated ball out to him in acres of space in the first half.....rather than anticipating it and backing up to control it, he reacted way to late and it glanced off his head out for a throw-in.  Literally school boy stuff.

Easy to criticize him, and yet again was very underwhelming, so why did he start?

Patience run out for me. He was actively hiding from play tonight. He’s had more than enough chances, he ain’t gonna come good and we can’t keep playing with ten men.  He just doesn’t look interested and just looks to get subbed off at every opportunity.
Get rid.

I think he’s got a few months to prove he’s worth keeping. With Malen here now he may have to do it from the bench. Absolutely woeful again tonight.

See he managed to get his obligatory head injury again tonight.

Every single bloody game.

In fairness, he hardly got given the ball in the first half apart from when he nearly scored.

I have defended him more than most. I have been desperate for him to play his way into form.

Tonight he is beyond defending.

Because
a) He rarely got into a position to receive it. He shied away from play continually.
b) I suspect his team mates realise the move will break down when he’s in possession.
The above has been happening for weeks.

Yep me too, I had hoped the Leicester goal might give him his mojo back but he's been even worse since. It's the most spectacular loss of form I can remember because he was absolutely electric for most of last season. If you watch back our goals from last season, you can see just how involved he was. The defence is a shambles but was already creaking last season. The biggest difference between the Villa of last year and the Villa of this season is Leon's loss of form and it just looks miserable for him by this point.

I don't think he's lazy or a coward but he's fragile both mentally and physically and he can't perform without being in perfect condition.

Said it before he is the ultimate confidence player and it’s just not there. The one hope is that he’s a bit like Moeen Ali, in that he doesn’t cope with thinking he’s the main man, but having a rival relieves that pressure.

We needed something from Bailey tonight as he was one of the fresher players. But instead he made me long for the days of El Ghazi / Trezeguet instead.
