He's got a lot of potential but it's keeping him fit and him having a full pre-season, which could tie in with the former. He's struggled to adapt to the league and his international call-ups and injuries have really disrupted his adaptation period.

I was quite excited when we signed Bailey, but unfortunately for him he was bought to play in Smith's system, and is less well suited to Gerrard's system. He is a winger, and we currently rely on fullbacks to provide width.

Can't see him fitting as a striker, or getting a game more centrally ahead of Coutinho and Buendia. Can't see him left of midfield ahead of Ramsey or McGinn either.

difficult to see where he gets regular game time as a starter, and think he needs it to find form. Hard to find form in substitute appearances.

Bailey can play in a front three and I'm sure we will play that at times next season.

Also as a second attacker/striker, popping up on either wing.

Everyone needs a quick wide player as part of the squad as it's always necessary at times. Whether we need 2, i.e. keeping hold of Traore as well would depend on how often we're likely to use one or whether we still might use 2 at times. I'd think 1 would be enough though and i'd sooner keep Bailey than Traore.
I have a bit of a feeling he might work well down the middle if we're on the front foot chasing a game late on and don't need someone who can hold the ball up in that position, as he's quick, direct and looks like he knows where the back of the net is.

I think we're all just going to be a bit curious to see how Bailey will be used this season 22/23 because he plays primarily on the wide and high up as an attacker.
He possesses talent, promise, and remarkable pace.
Given that there is a player there, the question is how LB fits into Gerrard's preferred system?

If Bailey can stay fit and gets a run in the team we'll all be laughing our cocks off, I am certain of it.

Fingers crossed for him.

It was clear as day to me that his issue was that he didn't trust his own body after his set backs last season. It he gets a decent run and a bit of patience then we'll see more of his talent

On the evidence of two goals, vs Walsall and Everton, he really hits the ball hard and fast. He will be a mix of spectacular goals and life-threatening-for-the-crowd-behind-the-goal misses.

We are due some luck and maybe getting to see a fully fit and firing Bailey might just be it

Great option from the bench if not starting

Absolutely superb today. Great goal, always a threat when he got the ball, but importantly worked his bollocks off when not in possession.

Goal and an assist and some determination about him, exactly what we needed when we needed it.

I'm excited by the thought of him this season. Looks like he knuckled down over the summer, when he could easily have let his head drop, particularly as the crowd seemed to turn at the Norwich game

He was unplayable today. Hopefully a full pre-season brings the consistency that was lacking last season.

It showed Gerrard having a serious arm around word at the end of the game. Probably along the lines of “keep that level of effort up and we’ll all be happy”.
