What's the latest with him?

Scored a super header vs Mexico and now enjoying time being a dad. If he comes back fit and happy he will be a super player next season

Love the optimism that he'll come good for us. I hope those people are right, but can't see it myself.

Well he’s super talented so hopefully we’ll get there. His pace and directness is also something we lack, so he adds flexibility to our play.

Agree.  I can see parallels with England’s tactics (ignoring Southgate’s application of the systems).  Sterling is not as talented as Grealish and Foden but has a directness, pace and an ability to play off the defender’s shoulder.  Bailey will offer us something different and threaten the spaces behind the opposition’s defence.

He just needs time to put a run together and prove his worth. I said on this thread earlier, I really think part of his problem last season was that he was so eager to prove himself as quickly as possible, he didn't show us his best.

A full pre-season and the start of a new season will give him a more stable base to grow into what we need from him.

I think it is a confidence thing with him.

I think it’s a never being fit thing with him.

It has. And once he got fit and we saw what he could do, in true Villa style he suffers an injury scoring a goal, one that would keep him, or contribute to him ever becoming fully fit the rest of the season. I do think it played with his head, and he was on the outside looking in, probably for the first time in his career. And he simply never properly caught up.

The club has to take some flack for the way they have handled Bailey.  He should have been back at BH 3 or 4 weeks earlier than he was to assess him and get him fit.
