He's only able to sit on a bench. That's what he does for a living.

Hopefully he’s a republican

It would appear not. https://twitter.com/leonbailey/status/1506774475588747265

You seem suspiciously smug about this for an Irishman, BV!

No more than usual.

I'm a little jealous though that Jamaica got Villa fan Wills and captivating Kate whilst we're having to make do with Prince Cathal and Camilla.

Don’t think he’d be top of the list when it comes down to whom you’d want next to you in the trenches.

I got a bit of credit in the summer for calling this transfer 18 months before it happened. Lukejames for head scout some joked.

I'd here by like to hand in my resignation as head scout.

I will be joining Suso on holiday.

Apart from that one shot from distance, he mostly did knack all today.

He’s clearly got talent - and he’s shown he can perform at a high level in Germany. He’s just had such a bitty, disjointed season.

He’s also suffering from the same thing Coutinho, Buendia, Watkins, Ings etc have been lately. The midfield is delivering nothing and neither protecting our defence or bringing our attacking players into the game.

I'd stick him in a trench.....then fill it in.

He was poor, very poor but I still have high hopes for him. He’s quick, direct and can shoot from distance. He’ll bring something we dont have when he comes good, and I think he will. Eventually.

We are way to lightweight in our attacking areas. Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey, Watkins, not one six footer amongst them and apart from Watkins, all of them look like they could do with a good square meal inside of them. Yesterday, it was laughable how easy it was for Boly, Coady and Kilman at the back.

Gerrard needs to address this problem in the summer and get more bite in the front line.

The bit right at the end where he wafted a right-foot cross harmlessly out of play from a high ball coming in his direction that I think was a fairly good representation of where he is right now. It was the cross of a man who isn't fit enough to do 90 minutes, or is very low on confidence.

Given the type of player he is, it was the perfect chance to bring the ball down, face up his defender on the edge of the box so he couldn't tackle, and use his pace/skill to work half a yard onto his left foot for a cross or shot.  Instead he waved his right foot at it and put it out of play.  It was a poor decision, but fairly indicative of his day.

I do still think there is a player in there, but right now we're comparing anyone who tries to take people on to Jack, which means they almost always come off badly in that comparison.  Jack would almost always beat the man or win a free-kick, whereas half the time Leon loses the ball cleanly and the oppo launch a counter.

Obviously needs a full pre season under his belt but on all evidence so far I’m not sure how, where or when he would fit into a Gerrard team.
