Yes and it’s a problem when a loaner comes back as it’s clear they are out of favour. We’d end up being stitched up as other clubs would know this and lowball future deals.

I highly suspect we will see him back.

Doubt it. Massive success, they sign him. Not a success, we negotiate another loan, sale or release with someone else this time next season.

Struggle to see a scenario where Roma decide he isn't good enough for them but Unai changes his mind and decides he is good enough for us after all.

Me too, he’s been great at times and a pleasure to watch. How can you not like an attacking winger? A joy to watch. It’s  a shame he never consistently hit those highs, but also he fought through some awful injuries as we had no replacement. He was a warrior as well as a magician that champions league qualifying season.

All the best to him.

Time to check if odds are available on a Bailey winner for Roma against us in the Europa League final...

The thought had crossed my mind. Hopefully Fenerbahce make the Champions League so that's at least one "bound to score" opponent removed.

During his first match against Everton, I thought he was going to be a world beater. He tailed off last year but still an exciting talent but who I don't think really suited the tactically disciplined role that UE wanted him to play

Good luck to the lad

He was exceptional in the season we got 4th, especially during the winter months where he almost played up top at times and stretched defences. Him and Diaby were a menace with their pace. The injury killed him end of that season and he never recovered

I didn't realise that he'll only have a year left on his deal with us next summer so if the £17m approx fee has been pre-agreed, I guess that's why it's not as high as we might have wanted.

He was ok but I always sensed Unai wasn’t keen

I think Unai was keen on the player he could be, not so much the one that appeared last season.

I loved watching him, and listening to him speak, the season we finished fourth. He was nothing less than inspirational. I look forward to seeing him play for Roma when their games are shown live on TNT.
