Might be thinking if he does well there, we will at least get a fee for him.

Tim Iroegbunam expected to sign a 4-year deal today. Iroegbunam is a defensive midfielder who won academy player of the year for Albion last year and was on the bench for their senior team for the last game. We're paying Albion six figures for his development costs as compensation.

Has anybody watched him? Anybody remember him from the youth cup semi final?

Maybe we can form up some sort of partnership whereby we are West Brom's Parent club? Like we did with Walsall.

Tim is an excellent player. A more defensive CM player but with a decent eye for goal. Quick enough and a shade over 6ft. Good range of passing.
Was training with the first team at WBA toward the end of last season. A good lad and popular with his peers.

Am I right in thinking you work at the Baggies academy?

Yes.

It must be somewhat difficult for you seeing youngsters that you've invested time and effort into being courted by other clubs of higher standing, divorcing yourself from the club you support notwithstanding.  I know it's football with all its machinations but I'd imagine it must be a little bit gutting nonetheless.  On the other hand a certain amount of pride in his development is due.  I hope it works out for him.

I can't say too much for obvious reasons, but what I've learnt is 'money talks' and agents are rife...its been mentioned that kids are treated like commodities.

I understand that and despite what club it is, it's a shame, more so if the kid doesn't make it.  Agents are leeches.

Totally correct. The money involved even at a young age is ridiculous.

Yes.

Thought so, thanks for the input, sounds like a ver good prospect.

On the money, etc side I don't find that such a problem when it's a playing moving across Birmingham (for example) I have more concerns when players are moved from other countries like this.

They can't be, if they're under-18, except within the EU/EEA.
