Well said Percy. We know the financial rules aren’t fair that’s been obvious for at least 10 years, the focus should always be on what the club are doing about it. They’ve made huge strides in the period since Unai’s been here on commercial income, they just need to keep pushing that forwards. My own view is another top 4 finish and a Champs League campaign will help us break the €500m turnover figure and that will bring with it some sustainability in terms of SCR. It won’t fix it but it’ll be better than the current position and mean we can strengthen our squad.

If it was about financial security debt would play a much bigger role in the assessments but most of the teams that are the loudest voices have huge debts and don't want to have to deal with them so it gets ignored.

The frustrating thing is that we had a couple of seasons where we ran a huge deficit because that's the only way we could evolve from a championship team into a challenger for the European places but now we're there we're well run, playing by the rules and trying to establish ourselves and this is the point where everything kicks in to stop us.

Agree with both posts, we have a plan to grow our turnover to be much near to the shitty six.
Tomorrow Deloitte will realease turnover of clubs, and I think ours will be considerably higher at about 420m euro. This will put us in top 15 in Europe.

Would some independent panel making annual assessments on player value work? Rogers is a far more valuable asset now than when we bought him for example. Might be more of an incentive to develop and retain players if asset appreciation was bankable.

That's not a fair comparison - those grounds have had their names since the start (or almost the start for the Etihad), so people actually use those names, which therefore have more value.

Villa Park is never going to be called anything other than that, regardless of who sponsors it, and that's why it'd fetch peanuts.

Also worth remembering - we don't own the ground in the first place either
