and remember for PSR purposes the remainder is only spread over 5 years not 6 so the balance left on Rogers is pretty much exactly £1.5m p/y.

This is why I think our financial issues will go away before too long because the impact of amortisation on our accounts was really high due to us needing to build a completely new squad over 2-3 seasons after we go promoted but we're now moving into the next phase where we are only looking at needing 2-3 signings in the summer and 1-2 in the winter and then we should be starting to fill out squad depth from the Academy (Which I suspect is exactly what the remit for Olabe will be).

That will probably be the case for transfer fees, but the better we get the more the wages are likely to go in line with it. We're always likely to be able to sell someone to fix short-term "fee" problems but there's no way we go from a 5th-8th team to something more than that without adding 40-50% to a wage bill that is already problematic. Because the players to get us there (the current lot or new ones) will expect to be paid like the players at the clubs who are traditionally there.

One would hope that the income will move in line with that improvement - but I'm not optimistic that it will keep pace. Guehi will probably pick up £200k per week on his next contract - and when that happens Konsa starts to wonder why he's muddling along on "only" £75k per week.

When we decide that Watkins needs to be replaced, as we saw last summer the market-place for "top few strikers in the world" is pretty busy and we'll find outselves needing to match or beat clubs with the capacity to offer more. Which in turn means Tielemans, Pau, Onana etc all start wondering why they're not getting as much.

That's a lot of GA+ tickets needed to be sold to cover the increases.

The more successful we become the bigger our financial problems (wages) become. Not such a problem if you do a Leicester for a few seasons, sustaining such success though you will require a continuation of healthy income. Currently we have a ceiling, 50k+ capacity in 2 or 3 years we might be on the way to achieving it.

The counter argument to this would be the need to invest to deal with an ageing squad - without the advantage of being an established European team open to being fleeced.

I wonder what sort of revenue they're forecasting for the Warehouse.

Is something like: gigs/Boxing/Comedy twice a week, fifty weeks a year, 3,500 folk paying an average £40 quid a ticket = £14m a year minus promoter and artists share plus drinks and food sales, realistic?

No idea.

It would be good if they could establish a culture of getting people down there to watch our away games on big screens. Bit of blue sky thinking - have an annual warm up for bands playing Glastonbury. We could call it Astonbury.

I imagine the Warehouse is just another venue to rent out to promoters. The only way we could capitalise on anything but rent and the bar would be to bring in-house our own promoter but that would be risky business.

Percy and others will know what other venues exist and what the competition will be like but before you start looking around town you've got three universities looking to book bands, probably all with options on room sizes.

Like the idea of Astonbury but first you need to get people in the habit of going there. Oh and I thought we'd sold the Warehouse at the same time as the women's team?

I don't think the Warehouse can be sold until it reaches practical completion so its likely to be this years £50m PSR dodge.

Yes, it’s been mooted but hasn’t happened yet.

I thought we had already offloaded it to a management company.
