Guardian are reporting he left the ground on crutches.

I'd guess it's a metatarsal based on watching him take off his boot and feel across the top of his foot.

Seems likely, but I'll need confirmation that he left the ground on crutches before worrying that's what it is.

I’ve see photo of him hobbling away in a big boot unless it was Ai

He was on crutches whilst wearing a boot. He also appeared to be dressed in his own clothes rather than club gear.

Metatarsal’s seem to be quite variable in terms of severity and complexity of recovery.

He's got small feet so that should mean a shorter time out.

Presumably the same reason why Barry didn't take the penalty.

Ouch that looks serious - he really does not have much luck.

In the US a few years ago he looked on fire then had his ACL now back playing really well again and this...hope it looks worse than it is

Good luck little Emi

He would be my player of the season and I see him as instrumental in the recent victories. Of all the number 10s we have he is the most genuine in terms of playing creatively as inside forward and linking and bringing others into the game.

I’m worried we will miss him.

The Physio Scout on X says:

Emiliano Buendia had to come off for Aston Villa in their clash vs. Man City after suffering a foot injury.

Innocuous injury mechanism after a tussle with Matheus Nunes. He was seen with crutches and a boot after the game.

Not much via the video, but palpated area brings concern for a midfoot ligament injury (Lisfranc) or a fracture. He'll be lucky to avoid several weeks away from football. Foot area usually tends to be difficult to predict recovery times.

Potential Recovery Times:
If foot fracture: 6-12 weeks
If Lisfranc: 3-5 months

Some minor Lisfranc injuries do tend to see a return within 2-4 weeks, too. Also potential for a stress reaction type injury.

Scans in situations like these are essential to determine the extent of the injury. Hoping for the best possible outcome here.
