Happy with this (if we don't just punt him out on loan shortly after).

Being a regular starter might be beyond him now when we have a full midfield quota to pick from (if that ever happens).

But he's capable of coming off the bench and turning a game. As he did against Wham last time out.

A magic 15/20 mins from him might make all the difference in some of the key games we'll have at the business end of the season.

The Bertrand Traore role, if you will.

Please, no. We retired Bert's role when we so cruelly jettisoned him.

C'mon, can't you bond with Buendia over the fleshpots of Norwich?

Don't think he does really. Rogers is a much better bet let's be honest.

Buendia plays 10 or not at all. Covering for Maatsen isn't his game.

I don’t think he’s up to this level anymore, sadly.

He lacks pace for a small player, when he came on he was closed down very easily. He is a tryer I give him that but we need better.

Do you think Buenida signing an extension for 2027 a case of protecting assets and ensuring a solid fee if we sells him in the next 12 months?
I believe it was partly designed with that in mind.

Though let's not totally discredit him in for earning an extension. He appears really motivated professional and is coming back from injury. He's building match fitness so he can aid the team for remaining of the season at least.

It appears now rather than being loaned out this window he's given an opportunity to show he's up to the level till season end.
It's a wise call in many ways rather than bringing someone else in.
Maybe he'll still leave in som capacity in this window and the extension protects things either way.

I think Unai likes him and it's probably good to maintain him as an option as he knows Emery system, speaks Spanish,  and is less of a risk than a player who has to come in and learn Emery's ways.

Then revisit things in summer and if he should be here for season 25/26
