The Ipswich fans enjoyed it, Emi being an ex-Canary and all.

Indeed. I watched the match with a Norwich fan in a pub in  Brum. They still miss him

I bet they do. Given their last few years they probably miss anyone who could plausibly pass as a Premier League player.

He looks extremely rusty which is to be expected really. But i didnt think he had any impact on the game whatsoever

He needs minutes desperately

Digne didn't like being taken off, I think he was intending on taking that freekick.

I'll bet he's a bit pissed off in general, has to fight off another new signing and make way to give him minutes when there's a gaping hole on the other side of the pitch.

Yeah, it's looking a strange bit of business over the summer in general. I like Maatsen and think he will be a great player in time, but why spend so much on an already strong area of the pitch when you've got a great big gaping hole on the other?

We seemed to keep getting linked with players. I wonder if they just didn't have the money they expected, maybe because we were unable to find a permanent deal for Moreno and/or Carlos.

People seemed to write-off Moreno but he looks fine for Forest, I would have been happy for him and Digne to continue challenging for LB and if we were spending £35m on a full back, splash it on the right hand side as competition for Matej Cesh.

It's more about complying with the Premier League's FFP and UEFA's PSR than about having the cash.

Risso questions the Maatsen deal but to Chelsea was always going to be a player going there as part of the deal in order to make the figures work. So Kellyman going to Chelsea represented £20m of pure profit for the books and £37.5m spread over 5 years.

It's easy for us to say that money would have been better spent on a right back but I don't think we as fans can really appreciate just what a difficult job the club has had to manage this summer.

I watched Forest lose to a bang average Fulham team on Saturday.   Moreno was  a shadow of the player we signed taht first half season.

As I’ve said on another thread I think Maatsen has the potential to be world class, I suspect we just had to take the opportunity when it was there.

He was very good at Anfield a couple of weeks ago. We were weaker at RB in the summer than LB but focused on changing the left with the transfer arrangements we had with Chelsea.

I'm sure Maatsen will be great but we look silly now with no Cash and two kids tried and pulled on the right after a couple of games.

The energy required due to the we play up the left seems to require two players over a match if we’re to maintain our mojo. Unlike the right side, as things stand. We will be formidable when we have the players to alternate and set up on the right as we do on the left currently. But that would have required purchasing two additional players - the upgrade on Carlos plus the zippy right back to team up with Cash. We’ve taken a punt on Ned in that area, but while he might be a decent option for Cash in the last 20 minutes or so, he looks too weak defensively and positionally to start.
