I love Buendia. I admire he still tries to remain creative even when he's having one of those games when he's repeatedly getting caught in possession or giving the ball away. However, if he can't be more consistent he's going to be one of the first of the starting XI to be replaced. James Maddison would be fantastic in Emi's role.

He needs to learn that sometimes a simple 5/10 yard pass, even if it’s sideways or back, can be the best option.

I thought he was terrible last night, seemed to give the ball away every other time he got possession.

I've had a look and apparently he was dispossessed 16 times, which is far too high. It felt like Fulham identified him as a weak link and targeted him in possession and he never adjusted to start giving the ball quicker.

Thankfully, he had the cop on to raise his arms, get out the way and not bring VAR into play for our goal tonight. Many a player would have toe poked that into the net for the glory, without thinking!!

Emi's thinks at a hundred mile an hour. If those around him are not tuned in (like tonight) things can go tits up. I think our incredibly slow play from the back tonight got up his hooter.

Wouldn't swap him for anyone though

That’s along the lines of my thoughts, too.
He just seemed to be trying too hard to get things going and got frustrated when it didn’t work.
And you’re spot on, regarding the goal.

But then he’d be criticised for not being creative 😂
You only have to read remarks about Konsa. Doesn’t do anything fancy, so he’s not good enough.

One of those games for him where nothing went right. When teams target him he seems to get rattled and consistently lose the ball. Ramsey wasn't any better either, mind. I hope the lack of cover in the squad doesn't start to catch up with us. Watkins as well looked miles away from his usual standards, even worse than he did against Brentford.

Have to disagree, mate.
I think they targeted him as a key play as every time he got possession there were 3 players on to him almost every time.

Yes, as Risso says, that was the point really. If you get targetted like that yuo need to start donig things differently, play more 1 touch passes, make runs where you don't want the ball, generally use that attention to create space for other people. Last night Buendia did none of that and instead got caught in possession over and over again, as a 10 he needs to be a lot smarter than that.

Sometimes you target the opposition's strength to throw them off. That's what we did to Guimaraes last week.

It's all fine as we won the game, but he and most of the rest of the team will need to be better on Sunday.

Yes I know. I wasn’t disagreeing with that.
Paul also mentioned that he thought Fulham targeted him as a weak link (highlighted), which was what I disagreed with.
Emi can destroy teams, Fulham realised that they had to get to him in numbers to stop this happening. It worked and he struggled

He is frustrating, can be brilliant but there we a few times he picked wrong pass or didn't pass...he lost the ball, Fulham broke forward. A bit of a exchange of word 2nd half with Watkins. I think he will be upgraded in the summer.
