This fella better step up. 35m and that was a fucking shocking debut

One game in, with virtually no pre season. Jesus wept.

Was he good?

He cant be criticsed for that awful performance

"Jesus wept'

Dear oh dear.

Yeah, it was a very poor performance, but it's understandable considering he can't be match sharp.

I'll reserve judgement obviously, but that wasn't a great start.  Looked unfit, which he almost certainly is.

Im guessing it was that which is on smith for starting him.

Put him on the wing where he belongs, sign a player to play in Barkley's position.

Poor debut considering the hype. Bit concerned he seemed unaware you have to pass the ball on edge of the box when 2-3 of opposition are coming to close him down, lost the ball so often.

I'd expect to see him on the right next weekend as El Ghazi certainly won't be starting after what he produced and I doubt Young will be either.

This. He's a right winger who likes to cut in. Fucking play him there.

If we've blown a load of money on two players whose most effective position is the same one, well....that's a bit dumb really.

There was one moment in the first half where he started orchestrating this move and I thought 'yeah, that looks like a real footballer'. Rubbish the rest of the time however, though I think some of that was tactical as he seemed to have been instructed to play close to Ings in the pencil-circled 'Ings' role in this new-fangled 4-4-2 Dean wants to try (with Ings in the Watkins position). The trouble with that idea is that it's terrible.

I think he needs a mobile forward in front of him.
