Jack will be staying precisely because we are recruiting players of Buendia's calibre.

A couple more in the same vein, and next season could be seriously interesting.

Obviously not done yet, but this would feel like something’s changed. Head to head with Arsenal for an exciting young Argentinian international, and we won / he chose us. Can’t remember that much at Villa and I’m no spring chicken!

Identify the target. Get the deal done early. That's the sort of transfer business I approve of. That Arsenal fans are bemoaning the fact that they can't now compete "with the likes of Aston Villa" just makes it all the sweeter.

I know these YouTube videos are usually misleading and could make Champion the Wonder Horse look like a world beater, but this one looks seriously impressive.

First of the pant-wetting signings I wanted!

He was involved in 32 goals last year (15 goals, 17 assists) and ended up Championship Player of the Season. That's a proper player. And in a squad with a number of internationals and one of the very best in Europe he should only continue to contribute and develop as a player. He just seems very intelligent on and off the ball and he despite his size clearly has no problem mixing it up and winning the ball back.

Shit the fucking bed! Had my Everton mate text me while I was out mowing the grass. Didn't believe him so came in to check. Fucking hell.

Arsenal had a bid rejected too :) Having Arsenal rival us for a potential signing was always going to be a test and if you look at the transfer thread, many made Arsenal the favourites. It's quite the statement that we've beaten them to him. This was a signing I really wanted to see and I'm actually trying to delay getting too excited about it until the deal's over the line.

Was saying the other day lets corner the Emi market and buy Smith Rowe from them.

Welcome Emi!
Getting this signing over the line is a statement of intent to the likes of arsenal and the rest of the PL.

Not over the line yet.

Window doesn't open til Wednesday.

No but I was more referring to it not being signed, even if he couldn’t technically officially join up yet.

Now being carried by The Athletic.

They employ decent journos and aren't prone to speculative transfer stories.

Agent Martinez

Usually players know where they're going quite some time before a deal is concluded so in hindsight, this photo from our Emi was probably a cheeky hint at this being agreed.

I’ll be delighted once confirmed. My Norwich supporting mate says he’s a hell of a talent.

Paid for my season ticket on Friday, new signing announced on Saturday. Those few hundred pounds must have made all the difference.

Agent Martinez

I have it on good authority that what you don't see is on Emi Martinez's camera it says "fuck tinpot club Arsenal" in Spanish thus the reaction from both players.
