It might seem fanciful, but finishing the season by beating Spurs and Chelsea in the space of a few days...I wonder if the spring in the step it injects in the players as they have a well-earned break over the summer would also give an extra % of assurance to our better players (namely Jack) that we're on the cusp of something special.

Just watched the post-match interview by the Chelsea manager. Thomas Tuchel? Tommy Tippee more like...what a baby.

The backline stood firm that saw us through a very tense opening twenty minutes, thought Chelsea like most of the top sides were a very good passing side, always seemed to have players free, what they did lack was a sense of being a team, very little passion. Perhaps some posters will have a second look at Marvelous, in the last two games he has really shown vast improvement and could be he has taken longer to get there. Jack is nowhere near match fit and i thought he could have come off, Skill level way above all others but his legs were gone toward the end. Two or three top aquisitions in the summer and look out.

One of the best backlines in the league along with the best keeper. 3 to 4 high quality signings during the summer and its European football. Onwards and opwards. Oh and Tuchel looks like that prick at the back of the back of the class who nobody liked but who's parents were minted. Hope City wipe the floor with them.

Yeah, I hope Manchester Blue smash them, too.

Great result, brilliant to see Marvelous make his mark, a special word for Hause what a bargain buy he’s been, bet Wolves fans can’t believe the transformation.

The irony for me yesterday was that Bert scored one and made the other and looked pretty poor inbetween. i was also struck by how isolated watkins was - so much distance between him and the midfield and that's where we have to strenthen imo. last but not least it was fucking cold!

Thought we were a bit lucky at times although they are a team in the Champions league final,  Hause was excellent - but we hung on for the win.

As stated above no real support for Watkins and was left very isolated and did not have his usual impact on the game, Traore shows some lovely skill but he does need to work more on the defensive side of the game

A good day out. with a couple of top class additions in the summer we could be challenging for the top 6 next season.

A doghead at my missus' place said at the time, "What have you bought him for? He's fucking shit". Shame she's not going back to the office. I might get her to bring it up at their next Zoom meeting.

I can't ever recall seeing a team losing a match by 1 goal start wasting time towards the end and finally the ref is forced to book their keeper. Truly bizarre.
That's right, "Super" league sides. You'd better get used to having to waste time to keep your scores down when the Villa are in town.

Only watched the first half and El Goalsi’s penalty. We looked up against it most of the first half, but never looked to be getting completely battered. Defence looked pretty solid, but seemed to get in each other’s way a few times. Better than both looking to leave it I suppose. The corner was class, really well worked and expertly finished for the goal. I already knew the final score and read a description of the goal before seeing it, so wasn’t as exciting to see after that. 4 pts off Chelsea this season is brilliant. I had them to win the league this season at the start. I think the 11th place finish and the pts haul is even more impressive when you look at the sides we’ve beaten. We could have maybe expected a similar points haul, but by beating some of the ‘lesser’ teams and losing to the so-called big boys. It really has been an enjoyable season overall. Excited to see how the Villa lads do for England, summer transfers and which youngsters are bumped up from the youth to be involved next season. Great time to be a Villa fan at the minute.

As a complete aside as I didn't want to start a separate thread, Mods move if necessary, did anyone notice yesterday that Jamie Vardy was wearing gloves?  I know it's a bit cold but it's May.  Gloves FFS!

Looked we were going to get overrun mid-way through first half but then SJM and Marvelous (who was and my MOTM) galvanized us. Special shout out to Hause who won everything in the air in our box....he's done very well since coming back in.

Tuchel came over as very bitter in his interview, a perfect fit for Chelski.

I noticed that Klop singled out their last game against us as a really tough game in their run in, and that they only won it in extra time. At about 30 seconds in.

A million years ago when I was at school some kids had their fingernails painted a horrible yellow colour. Apparently it was a foul tasting chemical to stop them biting their nails

Maybe it’s something similar and is meant to stop Vardy picking his nose?

You have no choice, referees consistently show that they won't give decisions otherwise. Look at how many Man U get when it isn't a foul. I'm certainly not going to castigate a player for making sure a referee correctly sent off an opponent.

The one they got against Wolves yesterday as an absolute joke. No contact at all. Football would be a better place if they didn’t exist.
