First 20 mins I thought we were in for a pasting, but McGinn literally dragged us into that game with some crunching tackles and Chelsea did not like it one bit. I thought at 2-0, there was 10 minutes where they lost heart and composure and we could of finished them off, but took our foot of the gas a bit. But great performance. And as Smith said we always finish strongly under him, great to have some belief and momentum for next season.

Nakamba MoM but no one under an 8 for me.

2 or 3 additions and keep Grealish and some special times could be ahead.

Oh and Tuchel was really ungracious in defeat.

He was ungracious in victory against Leicester the other night, he's firmly in the envelope marked 'bellends'.

I was nervous today that we would doff our caps to a team needing three points and not give of our best, and the first 25 minutes didn't impress - almost reminiscent of too many capitulations we have observed over the last decade or so.  But what a transformation, really ground out minute by minute.  Where to begin, really?  What a superb corner kick routine, from Targett and Traore.  The whole back 5, immense.  Nakamba - we have a proper player, here.  El Ghazi - have we ever had a better penalty taker? I could obviously go on...

Our record against the Scab 6 is good, this season - I'm sure someone less lazy than me (Footy?) might be able to put together a league table of the 6+1.

What a great end to the season, and optimism abounds.

16 points taken from the so-called European Super League teams. We'll fear no-one next season.

End of season game, not moving up or down the table. Chelsea need to win
Seen this before but, the team today defended like Spartans at the bridge.
Hause and Marvellous brilliant.
We went to sleep a bit leading up to their goal  but Hey Ho.
First time we have beat them for a long time same with those Curs from WHLane, long may these records continue to be broken
Next season, who knows maybe it s time to spank those Reds from Salford
Salute a much improved season

3 or more points from every plastic London team this season bar West Ham.
Can’t remember the last time we managed that.

Fantastic performance. Villa have just beaten a team playing in the Champions League final next weekend!! Incredible.

The 'belief' within the squad is growing and growing.

All bodes well for next year.  :)

Spoke to Purslow briefly and he says it’s going to be an exciting summer. Sawiris was at the game with his family and he went absolutely mental at all the goals. We’re in the very best hands.

Interesting that Smith gave Chukwuemeka his home debut and 20-25 minutes of game time, bearing in mind the FA Youth Cup game tomorrow.

Wonder if it was to try and dissuade him from listening to the clubs who are rumoured to be after him and sign a new contract with Villa?

Pretty sure it was. Fingers crossed for that final tomorrow.

What's his story with the blind loyalty to Werner? He was a waste of space all game but Tuchel left Giroud and Tammy on the bench.

Thought we rode our luck a lot early on before we settled. Nervy finish as always but great to finish with a win. Nice bit of grit about the defence and Nakamba scrapped very well in front of them. Enjoy the summer one and all

Martinez 8, Konsa 6, Hause 7, Mings 8, Targett 8, Nakamba 8, McGinn 7, Traore 6, Grealish 6, AEG 6, Watkins 6. Deano 8
