I'd be surprised if they open all four stands. If we do have fans in, I think they'll be in the lower Holte and the bottom two tiers of the Trinity. That'll be it, I reckons. They're the most manageable parts of the ground, if you consider concourses and access from outside. Everywhere else has choke points.

The centre bit of the Lower Trinity won't be used. That's where the subs sit in my ST section

I'm a ST holder and I have already told the Ticket Office to leave me out of any ballots

And that's the thing. The club can't just allocate tickets as there will be plenty of people who either can't or don't want to go.

The only fair way to do it is to open up the ballot for applications and give enough time for people to find out about it and respond.

It's all going to be very tight.

They did previously say they would invite applications in groups of up to 6 season ticket holders & then send out an email requesting payment to those who get drawn out of the hat.
There was also something about photos on tickets though so I am not sure how it’ll work if they think they are sending tickets out?

I know we're all desperate to get back but surely for the sake of one game it's worth holding off? We're still on a knife edge in the fight against the virus and waiting a few months until next season could see us opening at full capacity.
I'm all for test events and if we were one then fine but opening the gates in every ground smacks of a lack of patience and a failure to learn from mistakes.

Totally agree. Far too sensible though.

10k for one game makes sense to me. Gives a few months to track people (I assume anyone going will have same testing procedures as those who went to Wembley last week) and see if there's any increase in cases etc.

Given how the last year has gone I simply can't see it going from 0 to 40k just in one go.

If Chelsea test goes well then I'd like to think we can get up to 20k fairly early next season then 30k and eventually back up to normal but I suspect that will take many months given the uncertainty about next winter currently.

They also need to work out what's going to happen with public transport as currently on cross city line pretty much every train is 6 coaches now.....but it's been cut to 4 an hour so really need to get back to six per hour to try to cut down on bottleneck around Aston station.

Can't see 40k inside VP until 2022....really hope I'm wrong on that.

I think individual clubs might push the envelope here and there.
I’m betting on a Christmas special somewhere. A Sky Christmas?

Otherwise I agree, I think it’s going to take about a season to get back to admitting  normal size crowds and that it could happen next February/March, rather than August.
I hope!

As a London based season ticket holder, I'm really hoping for both this and Chelsea at home. First jab three weeks ago. Life starting on the journey back to normal.

I have rang them and told them to allocate me a ticket first and then ballot the remaining 9,999.

Realistically that could be the state of play all the way through 2021

I had an email earlier today asking me to link my ticketing account / Fan ID to the digital account.

Email said they were preparing to make an announcement regarding the Chelsea game over the next week.

I'd created the digital accounts ages ago & linked all my family members accounts, with photos etc...

It seems a relatively straightforward process but it doesn't give you a confirmation that it's complete. Other than I can access my ticketing history through the digital account. So I assume its OK.

I've just checked, and I've had no emails at all from the Villa in four weeks. Odd.

Update: just been on the website, and somehow my email contact permission had been turned off. Curious. They also accused me of being a first time user(!) and I've had to relink my digital (email) and ticket (fan ID) accounts, even though all my info and photo were there. Curiouser.

bit too sensible that, Nev.

No sensible at all, utter nonsense. Schools are open, shops are open, and deaths today were 7. We're vaccinating more and more every day. If there's going to be another wave of infections, it will be because of a new variant in the autumn, not because of people enjoying themselves in the next few months.
