Villa v Chelsea - With Fans?
« on: April 30, 2021, 06:59:39 AM »
In a little over 3 weeks, we play Chelsea at home and, according to Government guidelines, 10,000 could be able to attend.

It’s a bit strange how details have not become available as I imagine they would have to conduct a ballot of our 30,000 season ticket holders.

Would you go? When are we likely to hear anything? Are the Premier League stalling allowing fans back despite the government advice?

I’d be there like a shot.

However, I don’t think the club will organise anything and will be focused on everything they need to do for next season.

I know we're all desperate to get back but surely for the sake of one game it's worth holding off? We're still on a knife edge in the fight against the virus and waiting a few months until next season could see us opening at full capacity.
I'm all for test events and if we were one then fine but opening the gates in every ground smacks of a lack of patience and a failure to learn from mistakes.

Hardly anybody has the virus now though Nev and all the vunerable have been offered the vaccine.  It's time to move on.  I'll be there if I get lucky with a ticket.

Isn’t it 10% of capacity or 4,000 fans not 10,000?

If its 4000, that will be scary. Mind you, if I were a Blose fan would probably feel claustrophobic...

From the 17th May it is 25% of capacity or 10,000, whichever is smaller so it'll be the latter.

I was on the phone with the ticket office earlier this week about something else and asked about this.

Apparently they're still waiting for guidance from the Government and the Premier League on what they're allowed to do, but they are hoping/planning to have fans there and will allocate tickets via a ballot.

It's going to be a very rushed ballot if they don't collectively pull their fingers out!

It doesn't need to be rushed.  They have all the details of season ticket holders.  take 2,000 random numbers. Contact them and allow them to bring a season ticket holding friend.  inform them where they will be sitting if it's not their regular seat.

I'd be surprised if they open all four stands. If we do have fans in, I think they'll be in the lower Holte and the bottom two tiers of the Trinity. That'll be it, I reckons. They're the most manageable parts of the ground, if you consider concourses and access from outside. Everywhere else has choke points.

I'm a ST holder and I have already told the Ticket Office to leave me out of any ballots
