Replica shirts are a massive rip-off across the entire football industry, so we are no different.  It will be interesting to see what happens given the current cost of living crisis and whether people deem this sort of thing "non-essential" compared to previous years.  Part of my job involves merchandise ('funny' t-shirts etc), and sales are down 20% compared to this time last year, as people seem less willing to spend money on things they don't REALLY need (and fair enough given what's going on right now).  There are fans, of course, who will buy the shirt no matter what - and good luck to them - but part of me thinks shirt sales will be down quite a bit this summer, regardless of the prices - but the price certainly won't be helping.

Interesting that you can get a, grassroots, Nike football shirt embroidered with a club badge for about £18 and the retailer is  still making a healthy profit at that.

Ha! I've always thought the 'pro' was short for "do not wear under any circumstances unless you are a professional athlete". I tried one on once and looked like I was auditioning to be the new claret and blue teletubby.

Just a word of warning, i just ordered a kids top online, states "in stock ships within one business day" when you put it in the basket. Thought it would save me a trip to VP to allow my son to have it before we go on holiday next friday. Place the order and it comes up expected delivery July 19th.... how does that work! Not overly happy as i'm only 30 mins from the ground and could have got it tomorrow.

It looks fine, and the prices are what we would expect aren't they?  I don't know why football shirts have become such a lightning rod for everyone who complains at the cost of clothing - it's the same with all aspects of the fashion industry.  A £10 polo shirt suddenly costs £100 if it has a tiny logo of a crocodile, a bloke on a horse or a laurel wreath on it.

Prices for this sort of thing are excessive across the board (for what it’s worth ours is cheaper than Liverpool’s) but the biggest rip off is they change them every year. Some years back wasn’t there an agreement to keep the same kit for two years running? That seems to have been shelved by most if not all.
