There’s massive money in retro shirts these days, yet our offering in this area is garbage.

Going up to villa for a stadium tour Sunday. With Black Friday sales, I'm tempted to buy myself my first ever villa shirt again. The 1980 home. I've noticed the umbro logo has now been removed. Does anybody know why. All the retro kits look a bit 'lost' without the sports brand logo. Thanks
because they're not manufactured by the actual manufacturer from the original shirt

I wonder if there's a time limit on design copyright. I can understand them not being able to use the brand logo but I'd have thought the shirt design would've been protected too.

I understand that, the retro shirts seem to be made by Score Draw, but a few years ago you could buy the 80's home and away with the umbro logo. The away is still available, the home sold out. Just the new stock, umbro has been removed. So was just curious.

Yes, agree. We should be doing so much better. Us children of the 70s-80s do like our nostalgia.

I'd imagine Bohs will sell more of their new away kit than usual. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/60117340

Having read the blurb, I like what they're about. 100% fan owned, charitable causes on away shirts, adding something back to the community... It all sounds good.

I'd love the 89-90 home to be released by Score Draw. Their 90-92 reproduction is my favourite.

I don't see why not, Meat Loaf headlined at Dalymount Park in 1982. The only gig I saw there had the Red Hot Chili Peppers supported by Frank Black, Ice Cube, Therapy? and others. Neither of them though is as iconic as the Marley gig which was his last outdoor concert.

It used to be the case that the Premier League "Fans' Charter" specified that kits should be kept for two years. Obviously it was just completely ignored.
From what I remember, it ended up being quite easy to get around.  Sides would "preview" the new kit on the last day of the season, meaning that it had been used for 2 seasons.

Actually think that a better rule might've been that a kit has to be used for a minimum of N domestic matches before it's retired.  Maybe 38 games for a home shirt, and 15 games for a 'change' strip.  Something like that.  Would've guaranteed the home shirt would be used for 2 full seasons near enough, and you could either have a new away shirt each season or an away & 3rd which last for a couple of seasons.

It was the seventies Barry, with the big lapels and the big, lush barnet, stick that on the shirt and I'll buy it.

I've found it:
