I don't mind the stripes, I think the contrast between the 2 claret tones is too big though.

The shoulders are fucking awful though, as someone posted earlier the 2 combine to look narrow at the shoulders and wider at the belly, it'll be bad on professional athletes, on the average fan it's going to look horrific. If they really wanted this styling they need to add some blue panels on the sides to balance it out better. Which means it doesn't work as Villa home shirt.

Its claret body and blue arms, that'll do me. Jack's toned torso will look great in it next season.

Personally not keen, but I'm a retro 80s shirt sort of guy, having worn my actual Umbro to the European Cup final and my European Cup final replica to the Play-Off final!!

My lad who is 21 said "Seen worse, it's OK" and I guess he is nearer the target market than crusty old fuckers like us on here!!!

It's available for £8 on the Chinese fake shirts site. Too be fair some of the guys at my work have bought England Shirts for £12 and you can't tell the

difference from genuine shirts

I like the name and number options there. Includes 'Barkley 20' - good luck with those!

1997-98 was a case of the away being better than the home. The previous home was very classic and, for me, the 1997-98 home was a tad too dark.

Agreed, I got 95-97 home and the 97-98 away, the AST sponsor seemed very apt. Never wore the away much as it was a bit skimpy on me. Must dig it out as may fit me now and still like the design.

Loved that 97-98 away, and when studying abroad in the states gave it to a lovely Mexican girl I was with at the time. It's now pretty much the only shirt I don't have in my collection, and they never seem to pop up on eBay.

There is now a retro version of 97/98 (Nostalgia doesn't half catch-up!) but it's missing the 'Reebok' sign so looks a bit naked.

Cheers eamonn, I didn't know that. I've had a look, and yes, you're right about the Reebok sign. I suppose there must be some way around this for geeky shirt collectors like myself. I was 14 the summer that kit came out..time does indeed fly.

What's the site? Or are you not allowed to mention for legal reasons.

Looks like home kits been leaked
Horrible.
It looks like they were going for the 2011-12 look, but i don't know about small stripes on large stripes.  Also the contrast seems to be too much. I personally liked the 2011-12 shirts:
