i'm not much of a fan of Kappa kits, it always seems to me the mock ups look better that what we end up with.  With that said, I suspect it will look fine on the pitch.

Whilst I'm mainly traditionalist in my views, there's only so much you can do with claret body and blue sleeves and I have liked the odd change over the years.  I loved the Luke kit.  I also really like Smirkers 57 FA Cup homage at the start of this thread and would like to see something like that brought in for a season.

Edit - must have dreamt about a 57 homage as can't find it at the start of the thread.  Anyway, I'd like one.

It’s met the brief of Claret Body, Blue sleeves but just looks really poor.

Villa shirts are claret with blue sleeves.

A novelty shirt once in a while is nice, maybe once or twice a decade. We have had too many novelty shirts. Just give us the traditional villa kit.
Me too.  As long as we're recognisably claret body, blue sleeves 90% of the time then I don't mind being a bit creative periodically.

Favourite novelty kits for me are the thick striped one and the Luke one.  Favourite non-novelty ones are the 89/90 Hummel one, the 92/93 Umbro one with the 1890s style, and the 2002/03 Diadora one (dark claret, sky blue sleeves).

difference from genuine shirts

Agreed. The Luke kit was helped by it being a nice rich shade of claret.

The new home if legit (and it appears to be) is dreadful, a complete mess with too much going on. Also it likely won't be very flattering on, the shoulder design will make the wearer look wider at the belly and narrower at the shoulders. Not a good look. Ah well, I wasn't going to buy it anyway and will now wait for next year's Adidas blockbuster.

I feel a bit dirty now for thinking it's alright...5.5 out of 10 level alright.  But then I am a strange person. I wouldn't buy it, but think it'll look ok on the players.

I really miss collars on football shirts.

A classic Hearts shirt, maybe. Villa shirts are claret with blue sleeves. I can't believe I still have to explain this to people every year. It's like talking to Climate Change deniers, Flat Earthers and people that admit to liking some of U2's early stuff.

Don't knock us flat earthers,we've got believers all round the globe!

As for the top....if true....it's a no from me!

76-81 and 95-97 are two of the all time best.

Not a fan of collars on shirts or the 90s baggy fit. 76-81 is a classic though.

1997-98 was a case of the away being better than the home. The previous home was very classic and, for me, the 1997-98 home was a tad too dark.

Agreed, I got 95-97 home and the 97-98 away, the AST sponsor seemed very apt. Never wore the away much as it was a bit skimpy on me. Must dig it out as may fit me now and still like the design.

Loved that 97-98 away, and when studying abroad in the states gave it to a lovely Mexican girl I was with at the time. It's now pretty much the only shirt I don't have in my collection, and they never seem to pop up on eBay.
