Takes all sorts I suppose, but I think we've been the better side, far more menacing and we've been much slicker in our approach work. Final ball not there. Need to avoid set pieces ad they have 1 player capable from open play. Never a penalty for them, and ours was about as soft as they come.
I saw them as much more threatening.Perreira running it.

They've had two shots on target and one of those was free shot from 12 yards.

We lost our way a bit after the penalty but finished the half strongly.

Look at all the occasions we've passed around them and opened them up for crosses and stuff into the box. Just shows we desperately need another player who can make the right pass or shot in those situations as we simply don't have a reliable one without Jack.

El Ghazi played well so far.

Seen far far worse in recent weeks against poorer teams than them.

Poorer teams than the Baggies?  What on earth are you on about, there's only one team poorer, and we managed to lose to them!

Neither of those were penalties. Both went down too easily.

Some of the passing from both teams has been poor, but McGinn has unnecessarily  given away the ball a lot when not under pressure.

Sexual Ealing, not angry, just very disappointed. Life goes on if they lose, I’d love to see a team who look as if they give a flying fuck and give it their all. Hey ho

We seem to have run out of ideas and the slick football that we had the likes of Neville and Carragher waxing lyrical about earlier in the season seems such a long time ago. Is it confidence?

Think we have played pretty well with the ball. Best AEG has played in a long time. Barkley did well to win the penalty and Traore has been ok. McGinn unfortunately doesn't seem to have put his contacts in.

Unfortunately without the ball we aren't offering much resistance. Perreira is running riot. Luiz and McGinn not proving our centre backs with much cover. Luiz keeps getting caught wrong side of the ball.

McGinn has been iffy. Keeps giving the ball away.

It's important we don't go behind in this one. They will park the bus and we'll struggle even more.

Just what has happened to McGinn’s awareness? Stray pass after stray pass. It is so frustrating.

I hate watching this Villa side. Huge rebuilding required.

Bar Grealish and the back four, I can't say I'd be sorry to see any this this team jettisoned in the Summer.

What, you’d get rid of Watkins? Luiz, McGinn? We might not be brilliant tonight, but that’s a massive overreaction. The last thing we need is yet another massive rebuild.

This must be the most polarised half time discussion ever! I’m in the ‘I thought we did ok’ camp and am struggling to understand the ‘we’re doomed’ camp 😳

We've been easily the better side, and I thought their penalty was kind of bullshit (the referee's decision wouldn't have been overridden had he not given it). As they might say in India, this is a half where we have to do the needful only - but how many times have we said that recently?

Our midfield balance has been so wrong for so many weeks now. We can’t seem to fix this problem either with whatever personal we try.
