I cannot understand why Smith didn't see fit to pair Watkins and Davis at least at some point today.

Phillips and Kazak would have really struggled against them but no.

So what other selection would you have made ? We were nowhere near the Liverpool midfield with 2 defensive midfielders. It wasn't the selection, it was the piss poor effort by the majority of the midfield to close their midfield down.
