Dean going with Plan A.
-
Them: Alisson, Kabak, Phillips, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Milner, Firmino, Salah, Jota.
-
Well that's a shock. El Ghazi on for Trez on about 70 mins.
-
I fear for us, but come on Villa win please.
-
Dean going with Plan A.
Does he have anything else?
-
Dean going with Plan A.
yep. I thought he might be bold and play Davis to rough up their CB's. But nope, tried and trusted...
-
To be fair, Davis came on and looked good against tired defenders. That isn't necessarily a bad plan.
-
Bit disappointed if I’m honest. Hoped with start with the XI that finished against Fulham.
Basically the same side that didn’t have a shot for 75 minutes against Fulham, with Marv for Sanson and Trez starting for AEG.
-
Surely this was an ideal chance to try Davis and Watkins upfront? Thought Davis did really well last week. This is likely to be a game where we need an outlet and Davis holds the ball up really well. There could be knockdowns for Watkins from him as well.
-
No Sanson in the squad.
-
Could be 4-4-1-1
-
Could be 4-4-1-1
Are you suggesting formation, or are you Arkwright predicting the score?
-
No Sanson in the squad.
Are you saying we're sans Sanson son?
-
No Sanson in the squad.
Are you saying we're sans Sanson son?
Presumably (assuming his parentage) we're sans Sanson's son, son.
-
Dean going with Plan A.
Does he have anything else?
Not that I'm aware of. The definition of insanity comes to mind.
-
And there it is... Dean Smith reverts to type. What message does it give the players who came on and changed the Fulham game, when he switches back to a dysfunctional formation and lineup at the first opportunity?
Feel sorry for Davis and Ramsay tbh - They did enough to earn a start, and with Liverpool's twitchy backline, this match was tailor-made for Davis to rough them up a bit. As much as I love Douglas Luiz, the lad is totally out of form and we're carrying him at the minute - Shouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11 at the moment.
Feeling a lot less optimistic now - Got a feeling it's going to be a shit weekend.
-
Unsurprising and uninspiring selection.
-
Sends a message to Trez that he did well enough to start.
-
No Sanson in the squad.
Are you saying we're sans Sanson son?
Presumably (assuming his parentage) we're sans Sanson's son, son.
Sans Sanson's son, Sanson, son? In Comic Sans.
-
Sends a message to Trez that he did well enough to start.
Fair enough but Davis must be wondering what he has to do to earn a start.
-
If we get the same first 70mins performance against this lot as we did against Fulham, we won't be anywhere near as lucky.
This is what frustrates the hell out of me with Smith - The team that finished the match against Fulham were night and day to what we've seen since January.... We're safe, so why not just go for it, and keep that momentum going?! Inviting Liverpool onto us is not the way to go in this one - Attack from the front.
-
Wanted Davis to start. Very disappointed. Can’t see us getting anything from this game but who knows. Come on Villa.

In no way condoning it but I reckon slipping some heavy laxative into Ollie's pre-match meal might be his best bet.
-
Nakamba and Trez in for Sanson and AEG.
So he's made 2 out of three changes. We've not had Nakamba and Luiz for a long while I don't think? Could mean Luiz getting further forward...
-
Could be 4-4-1-1
Are you suggesting formation, or are you Arkwright predicting the score?
Yes, yes.
-
Smith is rather highlighting his own limitations.
-
Nakamba and Trez in for Sanson and AEG.
So he's made 2 out of three changes. We've not had Nakamba and Luiz for a long while I don't think? Could mean Luiz getting further forward...
Think it will be McGinn further forward, or making forward runs more often than he usually does.
-
Nakamba and Trez in for Sanson and AEG.
So he's made 2 out of three changes. We've not had Nakamba and Luiz for a long while I don't think? Could mean Luiz getting further forward...
McGinn probaly getting further forward like he does for Scotland.
-
No Sanson in the squad.
Are you saying we're sans Sanson son?
Presumably (assuming his parentage) we're sans Sanson's son, son.
Sans Sanson's son, Sanson, son? In Comic Sans.
What's the tune to that Sans Sanson's son, Sanson, song, in Comic Sans son?
-
Dean going with Plan A.
Does he have anything else?
Not that I'm aware of. The definition of insanity comes to mind.
Have a look at the table.
-
Nakamba and Trez in for Sanson and AEG.

I'm happy enough with the team tbh. He's brought in Nakamba to shore up the midfield and away to the champions is probably not the best place to give Davis his first start in yonks.
-
Going for same game plan that worked against Leeds, but didn’t work against Sheff Utd a few days later. I guess Trez deserved his start and can see why he’s brought Nakamba in and hopefully frees up McGinn a bit. I would of like to have seen Davis start, but that would of meant Traore or Trez not playing, difficult one. Law of averages alone says Liverpool won’t lose another game at home in a row, so on that front alone, ignoring our form, not expecting much.
-

Yes, I guess it will be 4-2-3-1, with Luiz and Nakamba in front of the defence and McGinn further forward betweem Traore and Trez.

Yes, I guess it will be 4-2-3-1, with Luiz and Nakamba in front of the defence and McGinn further forward betweem Traore and Trez.
So plan B then...
-
No Sanson in the squad.
Are you saying we're sans Sanson son?

Sans Sanson's son, Sanson, son? In Comic Sans.
Sanson, no more, rat ta tat ......
-
Mane on the bench for them, that's no bad thing.
-
Great. Souness, Carragher Is bad enough but we’ve got one of our ex strikers saying we only stayed up because of goal line technology within 5 seconds of speaking.
-
Dean going with Plan A.
Does he have anything else?
Not that I'm aware of. The definition of insanity comes to mind.
Have a look at the table.
Indeed, we're down to tenth.
-
Mane on the bench for them, that's no bad thing.
Not sure he's been poor this year

Disaster that! And if we win our game in hand?

That's right, we're in the top half. You talk as if we're about to drop or struggling to make the Play Offs.
-
Could be 4-4-1-1
Are you suggesting formation, or are you Arkwright predicting the score?
Yes, yes.
FFTTFF
-
Sends a message to Trez that he did well enough to start.
Fair enough but Davis must be wondering what he has to do to earn a start.
Ideal game to give him a start too. Not much pressure away at Liverpool and up against 2 very average CBs. Looks like McGinn will be further forward with Luis and Nakamba sitting in front of our CBs.
-

End of the world.
-
I hope Liverpool haven't mown the pitch too much.
-
Not impressed with that team at all. All out defence by the looks of it. Playing right into Klopp’s hands. I’m expecting about 25% possession for us. Go on Villa, prove me wrong, I’d be delighted!!
-
I'd like to see Davis get a runout or two before the season ends but perhaps Anfield might not be the best place to make any drastic changes.
-
I thought Keinan would be starting today. Come on and get a hattrick later.
-
He's a miserable and bitter twat, Souness.
-
I have a bad feeling about this game that I can't shake.
-
I think bringing Nakamba and Trez in are both decent calls, will add work rate and protect the defence more. Hopefully McGinn will show more attacking flair playing higher up the pitch.
Not convinced with Luiz lately, but hopefully he can find some form again today as is a great player sometimes.
Davis unlucky not to start, but think he will come on later in the game anyway.
-
Great. Souness, Carragher Is bad enough but we’ve got one of our ex strikers saying we only stayed up because of goal line technology within 5 seconds of speaking.
On the other side of the coin Darren Bent says he fancies Ollie Watkins to cause trouble for Liverpool's makeshift defence.
-
He's a miserable and bitter twat, Souness.
He's still remembered by Benficistas as the most tactically inept Coach they've ever had.
-
As much as I wanted to see us play 2 upfront , maybe Liverpool away isn’t the place. ( despite their recent form )
-
Great. Souness, Carragher Is bad enough but we’ve got one of our ex strikers saying we only stayed up because of goal line technology within 5 seconds of speaking.

Lazy punditry from DB there really.
-
Mane on the bench for them, that's no bad thing.
But currently he's their totally out of form forward
-
I wouldn't say I was disappointed with the team selection. Why does everyone think Davis deserves a start after a 15 minute decent performance?
-
Southgate in the stand, just to confirm he has another excuse for not selecting Jack.
-
This could be fun.
-
Good energy from our lot so far
-
I want to continue to see the pressing that we had earlier in the season.
-
I want to continue to see the pressing that we had earlier in the season.
Agreed, their centre halves are vulnerable to that.
-
McGinn looks a bit lost further up the pitch - the pace of it seems a it quick for him. Hopefully he adjusts because it does make sense him playing further up to press.
-
So fucking casual that Mings.
-
Usual brain fart from Mings.
-
Bloody hell Mings nearly
-
Massive fucking let off. Mings again with the fuck up.
-
Mings dropping a bollock yet again. Got away with it that time
-
Got of jail there. Hopefully that’s Mings mistake done for the day, and now he’s MOM!!
-
Yet another howler from Mings. The guy just can't concentrate.
-
Lets hope its just the one and we've got away with it.
-
Mings needs dropping. Could quite easily have cost us another goal then. Inexcusable
-
Wakey wakey Mings you dumb twat.
-
So fucking casual that Mings.
Lucky, lucky, lucky bastard.
-
That had better be Mings only error this game
-
Week-on-week, Mings is making the case for us having to spend money in the summer on a centre back.
-
Showing too much fear so far. Not getting engaged, no one able to hold the ball.
-
Can't handle their tempo.
-
Very one-sided at the moment. We need to get hold of the ball.
-
Growing weary of Mings’ stupidity
-
Sending up the centre-backs for a long throw is a bit pathetic.
-
How long was the silence for the DOE? It seemed like five minutes?
-
We are all over the place
-
How long was the silence for the DOE? It seemed like five minutes?
2 minutes
-
I want Davis on no later than the 60th min.
-
McGinn is having a shocker so far.
-
This is really passive from us. Making it easy for Liverpool so far. They have 2 rookie centre backs but we're not testing them.
Traore and Trezeguet have got to get more involved.
-
How long was the silence for the DOE? It seemed like five minutes?
For himself it's going to be a reasonable length now...
-
How long was the silence for the DOE? It seemed like five minutes?
I put the game on during the silence and thought my sound system was broken and kept turning up the volume like a proper gobshite.
-
Should have scored.
-
Great chance there.
-
Konsa should have scored.
-
How long was the silence for the DOE? It seemed like five minutes?
2 minutes
I'm surprised they didn't insist on ten while prostrate and being whipped by the Lifeguards.
-
We aren't very good.
-
We're very disconnected, showing no ability to put passes together and progress downfield, just pretty aimless hoofs downfield.
-
silly booking for Konsa - Jota was going down the line, and there was cover in the middle.
-
Trezeguet looking like a circus act again today.
-
Midfield 2 are being pushed back. Too big of a gap between them and the front 3.
-
I want Davis on no later than the 60th min.
Me too.
-
Booked for that, fair enough. But equally there should have been one for Kabak right at the start, too, for dragging McGinn back.
-
Looks like Luiz can't continue...
-
Booked for that, fair enough. But equally there should have been one for Kabak right at the start, too, for dragging McGinn back.
Yes good point.
-
Ramsey coming on for a groggy looking Doug.
-
What is wrong with him?
-
Not sure what happened to Luiz there
-
Trezeguet looking like a circus act again today.
I haven't noticed him until now.
-
Not sure I agree with this - should the player be deciding if they’re concussed?
-
Same performance as against Fulham, not surprising really.
-
Not sure I agree with this - should the player be deciding if they’re concussed?
The only suggestion of concussion seems to have come from the commentators with no footage to show how so I'm not sure that's the problem.
-
Not sure I agree with this - should the player be deciding if they’re concussed?
Hard to say what was happening because we wasn't going to use the concussion sub.
-
We just don't have the midfielders who can pass it around comfortably and take the heat off the defence. When Trez and Traore are as peripheral as this it makes it so hard for the defence.
We need to give Liverpool something to think about but we are doing nothing at all going forward.
-
Have we gone back in time?
It’s like watching a McLeish game plan
-
McGinn struggling. Sub him for Davis? Bit radical but could work.
-
Midfield has been passive and poor. All 3 front men totally isolated and starved of possession.
-
Not particularly happy with the ref so far, he's letting them go when they do little niggles, nudge in the back when a villa player has jumped or a little pull on the shirt before the ball gets played so they can't make the run.
-
Have we gone back in time?
It’s like watching a McLeish game plan
Terrible again really.....Luiz and McGinn utterly anonymous
-
We really need to work on our throw ins.
-
Have we gone back in time?
It’s like watching a McLeish game plan
Were nothing like we were under McLeish and I try not to think he had anything to do with the Club.
-
Trez and Bert also adding fuck all. Passengers.
-
Are we really so bereft of quality apart from Grealish that we are this poor without him? The management really have their work cut out for them this summer.
-
It's pointless playing Traore and Trez as part of front 3 when we have nothing in midfield. Take Traore off bring Davis on tp provide better linkage.
-
Carragher just jizzed.
-
Carragher just jizzed.
Over a ball that I could have trapped
-
Traore can cut out the tricks. Just stick to the basics mate.
-
Carragher just jizzed.
Over a ball that I could have trapped
If any professional player couldn't trap a ball like that he shouldn't be one.
-
Carragher just jizzed.
Over a ball that I could have trapped
With the player having more time and space than should be allowed
-
Are we really so bereft of quality apart from Grealish that we are this poor without him? The management really have their work cut out for them this summer.
Yeah that’s exactly where we are
-
I’d take Trez and Bert off at HT and bring on Davis and Ross/Ramsey.
-
Carragher isn't a commentator he is a bloody cheerleader. Sadly I don't expect Darren Bent to provide any balance at half time.
-
Traore can cut out the tricks. Just stick to the basics mate.
I wish he could even do the basics right :(
-
What the fuck is Traore playing at?
-
WTF was that Traore?
-
firminio was in acres and under no pressure. If he didn't kill it with one touch he shouldn't be a pro
-
Traore with his trademark cross field volley there.......going straight to the opposition.
-
Get Traore off the fucking pitch now Dean. FFS!!!!!!
-
Bloody hell Traore. Two weeks in a row he’s done that
-
Traore is pathetic. Worst player on the pitch.
-
And again from Traore. Get him off at HT.
-
And Nakamba. Fucking hell!
-
3 really sloppy moments in this half and get the fuck in!
-
Yes !!!!!!!!!
-
Daylight fuckin robbery
-
Just a matter of time it seems.
-
Traore is a horrible footballer. Useless 95% of the time. How we paid that much for him is a mystery.
-
Fucking some much sloppy play.
-
Traore with his not looking dopey inside volley. Sloppy as... GOL!
-
oooooooooooooooooooooh
-
What are they trying stupid things for... I should have gone early to beat the half time rush...
GET IN!
-
Yesssssssssssssssssssss
-
fuck off carragher
-
Get in, Ollie!
-
OLLLIEE YES!
-
Yes!!!!!
-
What do you expect with a stock broker in goal?
-
GET THE FUCK INNNNNN!!!!!!
-
Well done Ollie
-
As has just been said...
Daylight fucking robbery 😂
-
Lovely goal. nice play play by Doug to get it going.
-
Get in, slightly surprising!
-
Ha ha. Have that Jamie C you flobbering scouse twat.
-
Watkins!!!!
-
Get in! Great pass from McGinn, awful from their keeper!
-
That's the way.
-
I hope we can hold on if only to shut up all those Scouse Africans who invaded our social media pages this morning
-
Ha ha. Have that Jamie C you flobbering scouse twat.
To be fair...he does like us normally
-
I am watching our game and keeping an eye on Flashscore. It would appear that both us and Small Heath scored at exactly the same time.
-
As has just been said...
Daylight fucking robbery 😂
A regular occurrence on Merseyside.
-
Ha ha. Have that Jamie C you flobbering scouse twat.
To be fair...he does like us normally
He may like us. I can't bear him. Haha. I hope you're well mate!
-
Yessss Ollie! Totally undeserved but who cares?
-
I hope we can hold on if only to shut up all those Scouse Africans who invaded our social media pages this morning
Who are they? Highly irritating is an understatement.
-
Fucking hell.the bloke who can’t score gets one.
-
Offside?
-
bollocks
-
Typical.
-
Fuck off! In time added too. ******!
-
Oh well . 1-0 at half time would have set us up nicely
-
FFS - all came from a half arsed Trez flick.
-
Ah how inevitable.
-
Initial pass looked offside to me. No VAR though obvs.
-
Var won’t help us
-
VAR. we know how this goes dont we.
-
Love VAR!
-
Oh my god.....good, but fucking ridiculous
-
Where's the Var with all the coloured lines? Fucking wankers.
-
Ha! Fuck off Klopp!
-
Ha ha ha ha. One goes our way!!!!
-
Offside?
Didn't need VAR me. Fucking mile off.
-
It looked it. Nice one.
-
Love VAR!
Best thing ever.
-
VAR to the rescue!
-
Holy shit I can’t believe it
-
Ha ha. Have that Jamie C you flobbering scouse twat.
To be fair...he does like us normally
He may like us. I can't bear him. Haha. I hope you're well mate!
Good to see you back pal.
-
Happy, but ridiculous.
-
Crucial away goal. Hard for them to come back from 8-2
-
Ha ha. Once again lap that up Jamie.
-
Got lucky there Villa. Started from a back heel from Trez.
Get Traore off at half-time for Ramsey. He is a total liability.
-
No idea how we are 1 up, it was an awful performance.
Please Smith sort this out.
-
As I said with the one last night we've bene on the wrong end of a couple of these so the only fair use of VAR is to give ones like this until the end of the season.
-
Wow. Absolute daylight robbery so far. But I love it....
-
Hahahaha oh my god, what a load of shit our lead is today. Good stuff.
-
Ha - went in our favour but one of those daft VAR calls. Terrible defending.
-
Happy, but a ridiculous decision. VAR is so dumb.
-
I think we can say that VAR has evened itself out over the season for us now. This one and the Ings one we really got away with.
-
Good for us but I hate stuff like that being given offside and we've certainly suffered countless times.
Still going in at 0-1 instead of 1-1 is huge for us.
Would try and get Davis on, we simply need to make it stick a little more once we cross the halfway line.
-
Haha what a shit decision! Brilliant!
-
We need to hold the fucking thing up better and stop giving it away so cheaply.
-
Who was the idiot who flicked the ball to keep it in up by the half way line?
-
I love VAR! Carragher distraught, love it.
-
Ha ha. Have that Jamie C you flobbering scouse twat.
To be fair...he does like us normally
He may like us. I can't bear him. Haha. I hope you're well mate!
Good to see you back pal.
Cheers mate! Good to be back. VAR is wonderful.
-
Who was the idiot who flicked the ball to keep it in up by the half way line?
Trez
-
Bantz
-
Who was the idiot who flicked the ball to keep it in up by the half way line?
Trezeguet.
-
Traore Luiz Trez are dreadful
-
Good goal by Ollie and we have one of those VAR moments in our favour.
-
Who was the idiot who flicked the ball to keep it in up by the half way line?
Trez.
-
Would have been furious if they didn’t give offside because Cash touched it.
I thought all that nonsense was tidied up earlier in the season?
-
Nothing 'lucky' about the offside. It was offside. We have been lucky in not conceding another one though, with some unforced errors (Mings, Traore). It has been pretty one-sided for a lot of the half and they've looked like scoring, whereas we've looked toothless.
I don't think we've been as poor as some posters seem to have, but we will need to keep the ball and probably score another one to get something I think.
-
Think I would have been livid if that was us being called offside from the same situation. Today the outstanding non players so far are Traore(doesn’t look interested) and Trez who just can’t get into the game. Have we used up all our luck in the first half?
-
Souness meltdown incoming....
Popcorn at the ready.
-
Watkins always scores against red scouse. Definite offside just ask Ollie!
-
Get ready for Souness !!
-
As others have said the hold up play has been abysmal, doesn't help when Traore is trying to be a fancy Dan and giving the ball away needlessly. Wouldn't mind Ross or Ramsey on in his place for the second half.
-
Traore Luiz Trez are dreadful
Luiz has been OK but you're right about Trez & Traore. Just appalling.
-
Liverpool are having a lot of the ball, as you'd expect, but we're doing OK for an away side at Anfield. Obviously the score is currently brilliant, but the performance itself has been OK. I don't think it's as bad as some are making out? Maybe I just have lower expectations for this type of game. At least we're getting a few shots on target this week :-)
Given how Man City annihilated Leeds in terms of possession and shots earlier, and still lost, I'm not sure lightning can strike twice in the same afternoon so we'll have to improve to keep ahead.
-
Who was the idiot who flicked the ball to keep it in up by the half way line?
Trez
He needs shooting.
-
Traore is such a frustrating player. He has loads of talent and great vision, so he does some excellent stuff. But he often makes a load of daft errors that undermine his good work.
-
I think it's now four times that I've seen Traore play that blind volley from a thrown in half way inside our half. It's time Smith told him to fucking stop doing it.
-
Traore is such a frustrating player. He has loads of talent and great vision, so he does some excellent stuff. But he often makes a load of daft errors that undermine his good work.
He’s shit.
-

I'd agree with this, its not as bad as last week, we've been incredibly sloppy at times and yet again our wide attackers are worse than fucking useless but Liverpool haven't had that many clear opportunities.
-
What do you expect with a stock broker in goal?
Laughed loud at this, not sure why !
-
Traore off and Davis on for me. Both wingers have been passengers, but Traore isn’t even offering the effort required.
-
Traore Luiz Trez are dreadful
Rubbish. Luiz has been great.
-
I think it's now four times that I've seen Traore play that blind volley from a thrown in half way inside our half. It's time Smith told him to fucking stop doing it.
We've given Liverpool a number of gifts which they haven't taken. Can't expect that to continue.
Dean should make a change at h-t but he won't.
-

Agreed. Now if we can cut out the stupid mistakes we can go on and win this.
-
Traore Luiz Trez are dreadful
Think it's easier pick out the ones playing well. Martinez (quite superb in forcing Salah to take that shot early), Konsa and Targett. The rest average, poor and awful. Some of Liverpool's best chances have come from unforced errors from Mings, Traore, Nakamba and Cash.
I'd like to see Smith take action at the break. Get that waste of space Traore off and give Davis a go. Get Watkins up against TAA.
-
Traore is such a frustrating player. He has loads of talent and great vision, so he does some excellent stuff. But he often makes a load of daft errors that undermine his good work.
Ultimately that's why he's a £17m player and not a £70m player. He has the natural ability to be the latter, but he sometimes makes the sort of errors and poor decisions that would embarrass a League 2 player.
I'll be interested to see if he gets a bit more space if Liverpool come out all guns blazing in the second half.
-
They will surely bring on Mane soon, he always seems to have great games v us.
Certainly try to get Davis on to hold it up a bit better.
-
Traore is such a frustrating player. He has loads of talent and great vision, so he does some excellent stuff. But he often makes a load of daft errors that undermine his good work.
He’s shit.
He does nowhere near enough. Today he has been utterly wretched.
-
Chuffed we are leading but we have to play better in the second half, otherwise it will seem like a very long 45 minutes.
-
Traore not in this. Get Keinan on second half and go for the jugular!
-
We are rightly going long to beat the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' press but it's not sticking. Surely Davis would suit this game plan. Trez and Traore absolutely terrible.
-
I think it's now four times that I've seen Traore play that blind volley from a thrown in half way inside our half. It's time Smith told him to fucking stop doing it.
Whipping him off like Klopp did with Keita midweek might be the trick that teaches him.
-
I don’t think we’ve been that bad. Let’s not forget we are playing the reigning champions no matter how poor they have been this season.
-
It does seem like the right sort of game to get Davis on the pitch. If we sit and try and defend the 1-0 I don't fancy us to hold it.
-
I hope we can hold on if only to shut up all those Scouse Africans who invaded our social media pages this morning
Who are they? Highly irritating is an understatement.
We still get the salty Samatta fans too.
-
Traore is such a frustrating player. He has loads of talent and great vision, so he does some excellent stuff. But he often makes a load of daft errors that undermine his good work.
He’s shit.
He does nowhere near enough. Today he has been utterly wretched.
I’d keep him on
One of the few creative talents out there
-
We are rightly going long to beat the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' press but it's not sticking. Surely Davis would suit this game plan.
Plan B? Makes total sense.
-
Trez has spent his time sprinting around like a headless chicken, giving the ball away or falling in his arse. He should be working with Billy Smart.
Cue a goal from him.
-
Traore Luiz Trez are dreadful
Aren't they just. Goodness gracious me. Appalling performances, but somehow we're winning.
-
Traore off and Davis on for me. Both wingers have been passengers, but Traore isn’t even offering the effort required.
At least you expect passengers to pay for their tickets. These two are getting a free ride.
-
Does Bertrand know that legs are meant for running? Does he EVER close down?!
-
That yellow for Luiz is shit from the ref, he was taking the free kick from 3-4 yards away from where the foul was anyway.
-
We just are having no possession. We have to pass the ball around. Take some of the pressure off.
Don't wait for the equaliser Dean...
-

He never seems to have the ball under control.

Unbearable people. He was absolutely shite, national hero or not.

National hero? It must be a very low bar.
-
great example of smithball the way we played it out from a goal kick to target winning a corner up the other end
-
Traore is shirking all his defensive responsibilities.
-
Sub time Dean.
-
Stop pissing about with it at the back. They're pressing and sooner or later, we'll pay for it.
Davis on Traore off. Davis will be a good out ball to take a bit of pressure off.
-

Ha!
-
How many chances have they had already this half?
-
Inevitable
-
Fuck off!
-
The boys are in good voice.
-
Its not like they dont deserve it
-
Mings asleep.
-
Ah, that fucker.
-
That’s lazy shit play from Marv.
-
Thanks Smith, if he can’t see the problem then he ain’t going to fix it.
-
Traore and trezeguet can just fuck off. No where near good enough.
-
What a shocking goal to concede. No challenge. No aggression.
Well done Dean by keeping Traore and Trez on.
Utterly inevitable.
-
poor defence ..
-
Well done again DS, we got away with it first half and, he didn’t head the warnings by making subs at half time.
-
And there you go.
-
Inevitable.
-
Poor from Mings, just doesn't react.
-
Bollox. Not much we could do there.
-
Smith is such a clown. How he can look at our wingers and leave them on I’ll never know.
-
I'm waiting for the Dean looking gormless on the touchline shot.
-
Bollox. Not much we could do there.
Marv could have worked harder to track the runner.
-
How many off games does Traore need to have before Smith drops him?
-
Smith is such a clown. How he can look at our wingers and leave them on I’ll never know.
It’s like playing with 9 men.
-
Not it worry, we've got El Ghazi to look forward to.
-
Seriously playing with Traore and Trez is like playing with nine men. Just not good enough at this level
-
Come on Dean wake up!
-
dougie cant even do a simple ball ffs
-
Fuck!
-
Fucking hell trez
-
Marvelous, Mings, Trezeguet, Traore...either lazy, overrated, shit or a mixture of. Really annoying to watch.
Add Luiz to that. Poor.
-
How the fuck did we not score?
-
Why wasn’t Alexander Arnold booked for checking Trezeguet?
-
how the fuck did that not go in
-
Davis could do with the game time that Bert and Trez gets.
Trez misses the goal. That’s a talent.
-
Barkley coming on.
-
Barkley to the rescue
-
Why wasn’t Alexander Arnold booked for checking Trezeguet?
Red shirt.
-
Marvelous, Mings, Trezeguet, Traore...either lazy, overrated, shit or a mixture of. Really annoying to watch.
Add Luiz to that. Poor.
Agree except Mings
-
Why wasn’t Alexander Arnold booked for checking Trezeguet?
Yep, not sure how that wasn't a yellow when the konsa one was earlier.
-
Who will he take off?
-
Can somebody please tell the Liverpool wankfest media that deflected goals are still goals!
-
I said 'coming on' not 'to the rescue'. Big difference. ;-)
-
No Sanson in the squad.
Carnival of the Animals....by Saint Saens, obvs
-
I said 'coming on' not 'to the rescue'. Big difference. ;-)
I was being facetious!
-
Unlucky Trez, it was a good effort that.
-
There we go....Traore ‘in agony’ again
-
We seriously need to close them down in midfield, there's no pressure on their players
-
Bert and Trez still on.
Smith out.
-
bertie injured
-
I will be shot down for challenging Dean Smith when we are playing the Champions away but I can't get my head around how he can watch us being pushed back and pushed back with two so called wingers offering absolutely nothing and yet he refuses to see what is front of his eyes.
His inflexibility and stubbornness is a massive weakness.
This isn't hindsight. We got lucky to h-t it needed changing but there was no way Dean would countenance that.
-
El Ghazi will shit them up.
-
Should be Davis on...not AEG
-
You can’t give up like that.
-
why no Kienan ?
-
El Khazi? WTF.
-
Traoré's bruised a fingernail, by the look of it.
-
we have come back in it last 5/10 mins to be fair ..still poor thou
-
Should be Davis on...not AEG
I know that. You know that. Unfortunately Smith doesn’t.
-
I reckon Mings is playing with a fractured wrist. He's been playing with it strapped for a few weeks
-
Mings needs the magic sponge.
-
I just don’t get that at all. Davis makes a lot more sense but Dean is so insistent on his system.
-
Smith is indescribable.
-
Tailor made for Keinan so Smith of course doesn't use him but Barkley and El Ghazi are the answer. If so, wtf is the question?
-
Barkley's first touch looked like he was trying to control the golden snitch.
-
Barkley looks like he’s running through treacle
-
dougies passing awful
-
Barkley looks like he’s running through treacle
Him and El Ghazi are the worst possible subs I can think of in world football.
-
Mane coming on 😱
-
Why wasn’t Alexander Arnold booked for checking Trezeguet?
And Targett just booked for similar.
-
Barkley really is utter shite isn't he. His touch is Traore like
-
I've found a Russian stream so I don't have to listen to Carragher any more.
-
Why do we end up with such stubborn and limited managers?
-
Has Barkley got pieces of Lego in his boots?
-
VAR please!
-
Great shot by Barkley. No of course not.
-
Someone has actually shot trez by the looks.
-
Look at Liverpool's central defensive partnership. Why Keinan isn't on to wreck havoc there? Smith is inept
-
Pity Grealish isn't out there. He would be enjoying himself the way this game is.
-
Why do we end up with such stubborn and limited managers?
It's 1-1. The best chance bar the goals, has been us. Neither keeper has made a save of note.
But yeah. Smith out.
-
No attempt to win the ball but no penalty. Hmmmmn
-
liverpool have gone shit too..this is when you need kienan to bully them now they are tired
-
That TAA / Trez incident was very similar to the Cash challenge on Kane - which was given as a pen.
-
That should've been a penalty for me, Alexander Arnold was the wrong side of him pulled him back and then went through him to get the ball.
-
Penalty for me too.
-
I snap your arm off for a draw right now. Substitutions have been horrendous today by Smith.
-
Get Trez off and Davis on.
-
What game are some of you watching? Is there one where we're being battered and Martinez is making save after save?
-
Ramsey on
-
What game are some of you watching? Is there one where we're being battered and Martinez is making save after save?
The one where they will score with a single mistake and take three points.
-
Got the impression Traore was hoping he’d be subbed, saw he wasn’t and decided to have another injury to make sure he did. Compare that to Trez and Mings who look in agony but would be prepared to carry on. Trez off so no Davis today
-
That could be a cruciate ligament injury for Trez the way he immediately reacted. Hoping not.
-
15 minutes added time?
-
Trezuguet’s body language reminds me of Manuel from Fawlty Towers when he’s defending.
-
That could be a cruciate ligament injury for Trez the way he immediately reacted. Hoping not.
It might be a blessing in disguise.
-
We've completed well, their best chances - bar the goal - have come from individual mistakes by us. We just need a bit more quality. Luckily, we have one of the best midfielders in the country to come back in a few weeks.
-
Ramsey on
Guess we'd have too many attackers on but how's Kienan going to get a proper chance here not even allowed to build on his promising 15 minute cameo last week?
-
That could be a cruciate ligament injury for Trez the way he immediately reacted. Hoping not.
It might be a blessing in disguise.
Not an injury to wish on anyone, let alone one of our own players.
-
bloody hell our lot are soft today - they make the most of these knocks.
-
Just whY is the point of Barkley? He should be nowhere near our first team
-
That could be a cruciate ligament injury for Trez the way he immediately reacted. Hoping not.
It might be a blessing in disguise.
Never when it’s one of our players
-

Nobody is wishing injury on anyone. He is injured. He is also shite. QED.
-
Liverpool are rubbish.
-
Barkley has really put himself in the shop window, well, Poundland’s shop window.
-
That could be a cruciate ligament injury for Trez the way he immediately reacted. Hoping not.
It might be a blessing in disguise.
Never when it’s one of our players
If he is injured then he won't be playing. Which might be good for team and our results. No need to get the book of morals out.
-

Ha!
-
Makes sense to me, it'sd have bene an even bigger blessing if he'd bene injured last week clearly.
-
Barkley you useless twat!
-
Fuck off!
-
Watkins has been superb today
-
We let them walk that ball through our midfield and no fucker pressed the ball.
Fucking disgraceful
-
Ramsey has to keep closing, should have done better there.
-
Brilliant game management again by Smith
-
Thanks for nothing again Smith.
-
Deserved. We’ve spent the entire game giving the ball away and playing with passengers.
Liverpool were there for the taking.
-
It was always coming.
-
Fuck off again Carragher. That penalty we didn't get costs us
-
What game are some of you watching? Is there one where we're being battered and Martinez is making save after save?
The one where they will score with a single mistake and take three points.
That one yeah.
-
Yawn.
Going to finish bottom half.
-
why didnt barkley put his foot through it?
-
Barkley 1 on 1 fannying around on the edge of their box.
Then they go and score.
-
why the fuck barkley didnt shoot . wanker . . .. alison is not in form neither ...... pool ws there for the taking .. rubbish
-
Utter fucking shit. We do it to ourselves over and over again.
-
Liverpool are rubbish.
Errr...
-
Fuck off!
-
Piss poor by Ramsey, half hearted attempt to close down.
-
Smith has to take the blame for this with his ridiculous substitutions. Pathetic.
-
Ah that ****** scores. ****** Alexander ******.
Smith's fault. And the crap he keeps on picking.
-
why the fuck barkley didnt shoot . wanker . . .. alison is not in form neither ...... pool ws there for the taking .. rubbish
Could’ve just blasted it into the stands and killed 45 seconds.
-
now the liverpool media wank fest .. what the fuck is carragher on there anyway tosser
-
Anyone else on the end of their box apart from Barkley ffs
-
Wonderful, unbiased comentary from SKY. Wankers.
-
Liverpool are rubbish.
Errr...
They are. A decently set up team and we could have won today.
-
Come on lads we deserve a point here.
-
Barkley once again a waste of space. Feel so sorry for Davis. The lad deserves better game time and trust from Smith.
-
Game was there for the taking. Liverpool look poor.
-
Sadly many things have changed but still if a team of a player needs a success we are still your boys. I sincerely hope I will never see Ross Barkley in an Aston Villa shirt again
-
Barkley, utter waste of a shirt.
-
So many passes just fucking whacked to no one.
So many passes hitting the opponent standing right in front him.
Just So fucking poor without Jack.
-
Come on lads we deserve a point here.
No we don’t
-
Deserved. We’ve spent the entire game giving the ball away and playing with passengers.
Liverpool were there for the taking.
Sadly, all true.
-
no quality hardly - el ghazi and barkley - get rid
-
Oh well. Only Citeh up next on the back of their defeat today.
-
Brilliant game management again by Smith
Crap isn't he.
-
Come on lads we deserve a point here.
No we don’t
OK then.
-
Think we've been ok.lack of quality is evident.
-
Get your season back on track gift week again at villa park
-
We do we’ve been the better side since the equaliser.
-
Get your season back on track gift week again at villa park
ok but what does that have to do with a game at anfield?
-
Please send Barkley back now. Complete waster
-
Think we've been ok.lack of quality is evident.
Agreed. Was a lack of quality in the game until that save from Martinez and that bloody winner.
-
So many passes just fucking whacked to no one.
So many passes hitting the opponent standing right in front him.
Just So fucking poor without Jack.
Or even without him.
-
Piss poor team selection, usual wank tactics and abysmal game management. I wouldn’t be too patient next season if this continues
-
Get your season back on track gift week again at villa park
Get your season back on track gift week again at villa park
Get your season back on track gift week again at villa park
Still the gift that keeps on giving.
-
Well at least we are the team to have given Liverpool their first home win in 9 matches. You can always rely on Villa to oblige.
-
I cannot understand why Smith didn't see fit to pair Watkins and Davis at least at some point today.
Phillips and Kazak would have really struggled against them but no.
Senseless.
-
After yesterday and now today, the radio silence carries on!
-
Piss poor team selection, usual wank tactics and abysmal game management. I wouldn’t be too patient next season if this continues

So what other selection would you have made ? We were nowhere near the Liverpool midfield with 2 defensive midfielders. It wasn't the selection, it was the piss poor effort by the majority of the midfield to close their midfield down.
