Return of the Jedi
« on: March 30, 2021, 10:54:54 AM »
Mile's back as Loans Coach. Along with a new Head of Loans.

More of the structure being built and another good ex-Villa man back at the club. Good to see.

Good news, always comes across as a top bloke. Magnificent steely glare, though not sure that will be in much demand in his new role.

Mile : "You're going out on loan to Birmingham City"

Player X: "But I don't want to, they smell and...."

Mile : *Icy glare*

Player X : "Ok then, no worries, sorry to have troubled you"

I'm really happy with these 2 additions, it was the glaring hole in the idea that we'll be focusing on the academy so I'm really happy to see it's been addressed.

I suspect we'll see more kids going out and much better use of them by the the clubs as a result of this.

Let's hope he can "develop" Ross Barkley!

Imagine this chap going round a field snapping after Ross McCormack. Hunt him down til he weeps.

I did he realised he left? I thought he was still at the club in a role

What a fantastic job - can I have the same role, being paid for not doing a lot

I always liked this guy; wish we'd bought him a couple of seasons previously.
I hope he delivers great value in this new role. Perhaps he'll do some scouting for us in the antipodes, as well.

The sight of him hauling his ageing self around up front as a loan striker in that away game at Leeds was genuinely hilarious and something I will never forget.

See there are some players who genuinely are not memorable in terms of the rich tapestry of the club and their ability but they are like Jedi.  Somehow their presence at a particular time in our history summed up the galvanisation process to help build what we are today.  That look towards the away fans at smethwick after cooly despatching that penalty will go down as one of my favourite moments in our recent history.

Clearly he was just auditioning for his new role at the club. Three years upskilling for his new job, that takes lots of dedication.

He may not have done too much for us on the pitch (though I seem to recall he came on in the Rotherham 10 men game) but his influence was at Bodymoor where his professionalism and apparently his demand for standards from those around him made him one of the most influential voices.  If he can bring that to his role and the general back room team then alls good. That stare at the Hawthorns though.....
