It feels like this team has reached its ceiling. That with Jack we have a little more but without him we are entirely predictable. And the same with Dean Smith. Without better players he is also limited. He’s squeezed all he can out of this group. We will still win games and we have days like this but realistically this is now a mid table team at best.

Do you think a better manager would get more from them, or is this their level?

It’s possible. But when I look at how much West Ham, Everton and Spurs as examples of teams in and around us have spent just in the time we have been out of this league, it’s not entirely shocking to see us hit a wall. They have consistently bought a better grade of player for a more sustained period of time. I think with the right investment in the summer we will take another step forward but we might be at our limit now. We took a lot of teams by surprise early in but after being scouted, after a tiring season and Jack being out we just look flat.

Davis is the right choice. He might not be a goal threat but he can get hold of the ball.

Really poor second half. The goal threat really has dried up badly
We need goals but Davis is the right choice? I'm not sure him getting hold of the ball will amount to anything but let's see.

Way over the top

Agreed. TV reel it in, we are on a journey, it will be bumpy but it’s going in the right direction. We have some fantastic kids to come though and we are the youngest team in the league. It’s only going to get better

Reel what in? What in the last few weeks provides you evidence that might just have run out of steam this season. I know we are on a journey, and that journey won’t always be smooth. This is the bumpy part.

The stupid tactic of Mings and Konsa behind Emi for goal kicks is doing my nut in.

Isn't Emi carrying a slight injury?
He may have. But it puts us on the backfoot with too much pitch to make up.

We need to get hold of the ball and keep it in their half. There isn't anyone else on the bench offering goals and I don't think Trez was an imminent threat either.

This is as bad a half as I’ve seen since the last bad half.

Konsa's a great player but that short tug was stupid and unnecessary.
