It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if, once this development was complete not a single additional ST was sold. It’s not what they want; if anything they’d rather reduce the number of STs if they could.

Now you mention it, Des, I'm sure I read somewhere that not a single person on the waiting list last summer got to buy a season ticket. I don't recall where I read or heard it though. Season tickets aren't profitable for the club obviously.

From what I've seen of the Principality Stadium, it doesn't strike me as having significantly better facilities than we do.  I imagine Murrayfield is even less so.  Celtic's doesn't look as good as ours from a quick skim of the website.  Manchester United's look like something from the 80s. Liverpool's to be fair looks pretty good, but to me the idea that we somehow have massively inferior hospitality feels like nonsense.  For a club outside of London, we have a pretty decent hospitality offering.

The Principality Stadium and Murrayfield aren’t really relevant, as we aren’t competing against international rugby teams in the Premier League, and you might have noticed that Manchester United have unveiled plans for the largest stadium in the country precisely because Old Trafford is like something from the 80s (although they still appear to make more than 3x what we do from every home game).

Of the examples you give, Liverpool are the only club who have recently completed a redevelopment project intended to position themselves where they can compete at the highest level.

It’s this ‘we can’t compete with London or the North West’ attitude which holds us back. Birmingham might not be able to support several elite level clubs, but it can surely support one.

Wrexham haven’t sold a single new season ticket since Reynolds/McElhenney took over - renewals only.

It's actually ridiculous that Birmingham no longer has a big 50,000 stadium.

I believe we have already sort of lost 2 valuable years so if this is the new plan i hope they do all they can to expedite it. With the exposure we are getting right now we really could do with having 50,000 seats asap or we won't truly capitalise on it imho.

I really hope we hear something soon.

There you have it. Makes you wonder what exactly the point is of having a waiting list. The cynic in me thinks it was purely to generate interest, with the plan to further push memberships.

It was relevant at the time the list was created, it's not now.

I've had four family members on the list since when the were selling a family of four season ticket for £800 all in. They've worked their way down from 21,000th on the list to being in the current 3,000's , it's taken six years. I only know this because I've emailed the club every six months asking for their positions in the queue. When we were first considering rebuilding the Witton End to 50k I honestly thought they'd all get in.

Even if they do rebuild to 50k I no.longer think they stand a chance of selling 3,000 additional tickets and even my own season ticket now seems in jeopardy.

I'm enjoying every match I can whilst they still tolerate me.

Stadium expansion is all well and good and they're being realistic if they can get VP up to around 50k. That seems to be enough at the moment. The other night there was a half empty section next to the away fans in the DE stand. I believe that's a hospitality section so I'm guessing pricing must be the issue but you wouldn't get a sight like that at any of our competitors grounds. I'm only including the scum six when I say that. It's not a good look and something that needs to be addressed be it through marketing that section better or reducing the price. It's not the first time that section has been half empty at an otherwise sold out game.

I was confused seeing a couple of sizeable gaps, utterly bizzare.

Don't worry, Mings and Konsa had it covered.

An away hospitality section? I don't think that's right. It usually houses villa fans but rarely sells out. It could be the Lions Lounge but I'm not sure.

That block is for the away team's friends/family and club staff.  It's a UEFA rule.
