Chelsea looking to build a new ground at Earls Court.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/sep/10/chelsea-in-talks-new-stadium-earls-court

Reading that article, I very much doubt they will be able to piggy back onto a development that is about to go to planning.  It would be like us trying to hijack the Smithfield thing.

Which we absolutely should do, if only because the existing plans must have won a competition for the 'most boring and lacking in imagination plan for anything, ever'.

Just spoken to a mate who is working at Villa Park a the moment - hundreds of contractors on site, plasterers, decorators, plumbers, graphics/signage. Lots of work going on.

Wonder if much of this was planned or if it's another Nas immediatate reaction to the terrible PR over the past few weeks.

I think it was all planned but was supposed to be done before Arsenal. There were clearly loads of things that weren't finished for that game but hopefully it'll be in a much better place by the weekend.

Bloody Foo Fighters or Springsteen or whatever put too much strain time wise I think. Not great planning that.

I remain unconvinced that they'll ever sort the entry out though. I'm struggling to think of anywhere I've not queued significantly for entry with a mobile phone ticket;

Leicester were giant queues
West Ham had delays
Co-op Arena has large queues

It's all very trying to get into the Smethwick End levels of shambles with the phone.

But if you can walk the concourse without wading, get a beverage if that's your desire, then it won't be too bad.

Triple queue check for Young Boys away end, that'll be fun. Maybe we've just been spoilt swanning up?

I caused a delay at West Ham as my ticket wouldn't let me in, until the "helper" realised i was using last season's ticket that was still in my google wallet!  Technology can be great but still can't make up for idiots!

I think they are launching the new pop up bar on Saturday that is situated in what was the players car park. Have a drink whilst waiting to see the players arrive.

Not sure if membership or pricing but seems a decent idea

Is that just replacing the beer caravans that were on that side of the ground - or is it in addition to them?

I had to go down there today, if anything there are more contractors down at VP (well their vans at least) than even before the Arsenal game, all along Witton Rd and not a space on the car park.

I guess they're just trying to finish all the things that should have been ready for the Arsenal game, but weren't.

I just hope they have sorted out the plumbing, and if not they pre-warn us so I can wear my wellies on Saturday.  Might do anyway, just in case.

Hopefully both. The new bit doesn't look very big.

I've heard the builders are installing a new drainage system, so instead of running the sprinklers at half time to wet the pitch, they can use the steady supply of urine from the stands.

I just wanted them to finish the chances we had in front of David Raya but didn't.
