It's not like it would be a take it or we leave a horse's head in your bed offer. It was just an exmple of what the club could do to make sure they aren't fucking over locals. Make it 50k, or the golden ticket of a season ticket.

If the club did look to buy homes privately, which would make a lot of sense, then it’s something that would slowly happen as people wished to move or accepted the offers.

As long as the club continued to maintain the properties they do buy and keep them occupied and generally behave as good landlords in the community, there shouldn’t be an issue.

And also make sure we don't pull the shit Liverpool did, and the council allowed to happen, of tinning up each house they bought and leaving them to fall into disrepair. Which led to a decline in the area. Which devalued remaining houses because the area was going downhill.

The problem is, obviously, they need all the residents to agree to it, or it doesn't work (insert that photo of the single house in China with the motorway surrounding it).

And then, the club would not want to rent out the houses they had bought, as they're just going to end up with renters with rights, another inconvenience. They just wouldn't do it, they'd leave them empty, and that's the gateway to pulling the sort of shit Liverpool did.

I am not sure what the answer is other than lose that park area for the road, and build out there, but I'm not sure how feasible that is.

When I left university, for long, complicated reasons, I, along with my ex and a couple of friends lived in an empty pub in Norwich under an agreement with the brewery (sort of legitimate squatting). I wonder whether the club could get the band back together? I'd be happy to help. My wife and the ex's husband will take some persuading but I'd do them all (except for the husband) for the Villa.

Don't let them fall into disrepair for starters. And with the amount of staff we have i'm sure we could find a use for them, even as digs for youth players.

I think the most pertinent bit of that local growth plan published by the council is this bit:

“Investment in Villa Park as a sporting and leisure facility will be supported where it can be demonstrated that any negative impacts on the surrounding community can be mitigated”.

I think this means we’ll get a more sympathetic hearing than in the days of Stewart Stacy.
